Holoween Gradient- Halloween Nail Design

Hello everyone! Happy Halloween! Today we will be creating a simple gradient design with just the polish and the brush that it comes with. I wanted to post this earlier, but a lot of things keep coming up. 

 

Halloween Gradient Nail Design

Here are the polishes that you need for this design and no nail art tools/ brushes:

 

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat. 

Polishes- Color Club- Black Magic- holo and Wet n wild- Glitter orange.

That's all you need!

Apply base coat.

Polish all of your nails with a black holographic polish, let that dry.

Then with the polish brush that is in the bottle, polish with a small amount of orange glitter polish half way up the nail, then focus most of the polish on the tip of the nail. You will need to go over this a few time, I suggest only doing two coats, I did way to many coats and ended up slightly denting the polish even after I thought it was dry.     

You can also do a gradient with a makeup sponge as well. I will share some link to some of my other gradient that I have done in the past a well.

Then once you have your gradient the way you like apply a top coat to seal in your nails and to help them last all Halloween.

Fall Leaves- Nail Design

Hello everyone! Happy Fall! Today on the blog we will be creating a simple leaf design on our nails. Also sorry that it has been a while since I last posted, I got a new job at a T-shirt company and I have been busy try to get use to that new job. 

Fall Leaf Nail Design 

Here are the polishes and nail art tools used to create this fall design:

 

 

Base and top coat - CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Milani- Quick Teal and  Wet n wild- Glitter orange.

Acrylic paints- Black, red, green, yellow, brown, and orange.    

Nail art brushes- Thin detail brush and a thin stripper brush.

* From now on I want to try and simplify my post, sometimes I fell like I go into to much detail and type way to much for each design.*

Apply base coat, let dry.

Polishes-  

Thumb, index, middle, and pinky- a teal polish.

Ring finger- a glittery orange.

Let that dry.

 

 

 Fall Leaf Nail Design

Paints need for leaves-

Green, light green, yellow, orange (mixed red and yellow), and brown

Index nail design- 

Use a thin detail brush to make a maple leaf shape near the cuticle. Then make half of a leaf on the side of the nail. Once dry, take a thin stripper brush and outline the shapes of your leaves and add small detail by making lines for the leaf veins. 

Middle finger nail design- 

Just like the last nail make a more pointed shaped leaf in the middle of the near the cuticle and one more next to that leaf, make the larger one green and the smaller one yellow. Then repeat that same step as before by outline and adding details.

Thumb nail design- 

This design is similar to the index nail, just make a larger maple leaf with two colors orange and brown. Then make to smaller leaves a red one at the tip of the nail and a green on off to the side of the nail. Once again outline the leaves and add the vine details.

Once you are happy with your fall leaf design apply a top coat to seal in your design and to help it last.

Pumpkin Spice- Pumpkin Nail Design

Hello everyone! Sorry I didn't do a post last week I just got a job at a nail salon and I have not had a chance to do a blog post. Being in a salon has been a very different experience for me and I have just been trying to learn, and their has been a lot of ups and downs with this new experience. Anyways for today we have a pumpkin nail design that we will be making. 

  

For this design all you need is a orange polish (the one I used is an orange glitter polish from Wet n Wild) and then a tan color for your accent nails or your middle and ring finger nail. (polished used OPI Hawaii- Do you take Lei away). Then for the design it self we will use a small detail brush with acrylic paint, you can mix colors to make the orange and brown or if you have those colors that works too. 

   

For this design apply a base coat (CND Stickey Base), then once you base coat has dried, apply your base/ background color of a glitter orange and a tan colored polish.

For the pumpkins on the middle finger nail we will make one large pumpkin and the ring finger nail two small pumpkins side by side. For each size of pumpkin just make a circle of different sizes. Outline the pumpkin with brown and then add a few curved lines inside the pumpkin. After that just add a small brown steam at the top and then a few green curved lines at the top for the branches or leaves. Once everything has dried apply a top coat (Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.)

I am still try to figure out how I want to format this blog. So for this week and most likely from here on out I am try something a little different, a short and simple format.

Boo to You- Happy Halloween

Hello everyone! Happy Halloween! For today's post we will be creating a cute/ spooky nail design that you can wear to a party or just for fun.

 Boo to you! Halloween nail design. This design is inspired by Nail Storming ghost design with a design a photo I found on line to inspire the spooky graveyard scene.

Here are the nail polishes and tools used for this Halloween design: 

Base and top coat- Nicole OPI-  3in1- base, top, & strengthener and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Sinful Color-Let's Meet, Sally Hansen- xterme wear- Sun kisses, Wet n wild- Glitter orange, Revlon- Rebel graffiti, and China glaze- white on white. 

Nail art tools- thin slanted nail at brush, latex free makeup sponge, and a cup of water to clean the paint off of your brush.

Acrylic paint- black, white, and red.

*Optional- school glue or liquid latex for easy clean up around your fingers.  

The skill level for this Halloween nail design is:

 Intermediate

This design has some parts to it that can be difficult, with the small detail that are created when painting the graveyard scene on the index, middle, and ring finger nail. As for the ghost that is a little more simple to create and the pinky nail just has glitter on it.

Let's start this spooky/ cute nail design!  

1. Start off with a base coat.

2. Paint your index, middle and ring finger nails yellow, your pinky nail with a glitter orange, and then for your thumb nail we will paint it white and orange, first swipe the white polish across the nail a little ways down the cuticle, leaving a little bit of space at the top, then fill in the bottom half near the nail tip with white polish. After that swipe a orange glitter polish at the top of the white, you may need to go over this three times to get the polish to be opaque enough.

3. We will first start off with the cute ghost on the thumb nail. Take your thin nail art brush dipped into black paint, make a two dots to know where to place the eyes then draw a line for the mouth. The make the two dots bigger for the eyes. 

Right know your ghost looks a little like Baymax, but we will fix that.  

4. Now we will make his smile. Once again take your thin nail art brush dipped into black paint and make a curved line under the straight line, then fill it in for the smile. 

5. This next part will get a little bit messy, that is why you can put liquid latex around your finger or school glue to make the clean up a little bit easier. I don't have any liquid latex so I just used some school glue, it didn't work to well so I would recommend getting some liquid latex. As you can see I could not get all of it off of my nails, but if you wash your hands it does come off then.

Anyways for this step you may have guessed that we will be doing a gradient. For this step take your makeup sponge, just a small piece of it, then paint some of it orange and yellow, then sponge on the colors onto your nails to create a gradient. You may need to do this a few times to get the color to be opaque enough. 

6. Now we will start to create our spooky grave yard scene that will go on three of the nails the index, middle, and pinky nail. We will start with the index nail, take your thin nail art brush dipped into black paint, make a thick line at the tip of the nails, then make a line going from that thick line for the stem of the tree, then make a lot of thin lines for the grass.

7. After that we will make a lot of small lines for the tree branches.Their was not really a set way of how I did this I just found and image online that I based this design on. Due to this part being a silhouette, that makes it a little bit easier to make, in my opinion. You can also look ahead at step 9 for a reference if needed. 

8. For the ring finger do the last step again, the only thing you can do different is make the tree on the other side of the nail. As for the middle finger we will be make a tombstone, take your thin nail art brush dipped in black paint, draw a line near the tip of the nail, fill that part in, then draw two lines in the center with a curved line at the top, then fill that in for the tombstone.     

9. To add the final touch to your graveyard scene you can add a cross and a pumpkin shape, or just have a tombstone and a cross.

10. For the pinky nail we will keep that nail simple, you can just keep it the way it is with the orange glitter or if you have some black and white glitter polish, you can paint that over the orange. 

For the final touches to the ghost on the thumb nail we will add some squiggly lines to the bottom of the ghost. Take your thin nail art brush with black paint and draw a squiggly line at the tip of the nail, then fill that in. Next we need to add the ghost tongue, this step helps to make him look cute. Take some white and red paint and mix them together to make a pink color. Take your clean thin nail art brush and make a tongue shape in the middle of the mouth. 

If you are like me then you thought that the tombstone scene was missing something, some bats, or you can leave this as is or add three bats in the sky. Take your clean thin nail art brush dipped in to black paint make a small dot for the body, then two curved lines for the wings, then some small lines from the two curved lines that you just made, to add more to the wings. 

Once your spooky/ cute nail design has dried apply a top coat to seal in your design.

 

Using acrylic paint for my nail designs has really helped to improve the designs and just make it a lot easier to create. Acrylic paint does not get sticky, it does not dry as fast, and can be layered with out getting to thick.

Gobble Gobble- Happy Thanksgivng

Hello everyone! Happy Thanksgiving! It's that time again when we all get together and have turkey, ham, stuffing, mash potatoes, mac and cheese, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and many more yummy thanksgiving foods. Other then enjoying time with family and friends we  also think about what we are thankful for. What are you most thankful for?
As for me I am thankful for my family, friends, and my fiance that has been there for me and very loving and supportive with everything I do. Also I am thankful that I decided to start this blog. This has been a way that I can show my creativity and love for nail design with all of you, and a way to improve and learn and little something along the way ( along with all of you!)

       The final look at the Thanksgiving nail design

Here are the nail polishes and tools used for this Thanksgiving nail design:

Top as base coat- Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat, and Nicole OPI-  3in1- base, top, & strengthener.

Nail polish-  Color Club nail art- Black, Wet n wild- wild shine black, L'Oreal- Tangerine Crush (very small amount of the black and tangerine crush polish), Sally Hansen- xtreme wear- White on, light copper/ gold polish, NYC- Fashion Safari, NYC- Brownstone, Sally Hansen- xterme wear- Sun kisses, NYC- big apple red creme, and Sinful Color-Let's Meet

Nail art tools- small glass jar with nail polish remover in it for cleaning nail art brushes, a small thin nail art brush (The DL professional 10pc nail art brush from Sally Beauty, I numbered them from 1 largest - 10 smallest, this one I've numbered brush 10.), and a dotting tool. 

The skill level for this Thanksgiving nail design is: 

Intermediate 

This design has a lot of steps to it and does have quite a few small details to it, which is why I decided to give this design an intermediate skill level. 

1. Start off by applying a base coat. 

2. Once your base coat has dried, apply a white coat to your thumb nail, a light cooper/ gold to your index and ring nail, and then a peach color on your middle and picky nail. For this step you can really paint any neutral color you would like. You can always paint all of your nails with a light gold or peach and paint your thumb nail white. I chose to paint my thumb nail white for the turkey to help the colors pop, just to change things up a little bit I alternated between light cooper/ gold and peach.  

* For this design I went back and forth between each nail, as I let parts dry. That's why it may seem like I am skipping around some.

3. Once again after your solid colors have dried we start the fun part of the nail design. We will first start off with making a tree on the ring finger nail. Take your black nail art polish / stripper and draw a curved line on the side of your nail.  

   4. Next draw a few more curved lines for the tree branches.

5. Then keep adding more lines for the tree branches until it starts to look like a tree. We will let this part dry and come back to add the small leaf buds. 

6. Next we will create leaves on the index nail. Take your small nail art brush and first dip it in orange nail polish then create a leaf like shape on the sides of the nail, then clean off your brush with nail polish remover and do the same thing for the red and yellow polish. Do this until their is only a little bit of the light copper/ gold polish background showing. 

7. Now we will go back to the tree on the ringer finger nail. We will be creating the leaves on the tree, due to it being fall I made the leaves look like buds because in fall their is not many to no leaves on the trees. Take your dotting tool and create small leaves or dots on the ends of each branch. 

8. To add a little more to the tree you can add more leaves with a different color. First clean off your dotting tool with nail polish remover and once again dip your dotting tool in yellow polish and make small dots next to the orange ones.

9. Once again we will go back to the index finger nail to finish the leaves. We will be creating the veins on the leaves. Take you black nail art polish/ stripper and draw small vertical lines on each leaf.

10. For more veins on the leaves draw two more lines on the sides. Then after that you can draw two more above those (not show in the photo above, refer to final photo of needed.)

11. For the middle finger nail we will also be creating leaves, but this time they will be a different shape. Take your small nail art brush dipped in orange nail polish and make a V shape on the side of the nail.

12. Repeat last step two more times then at the top make a point. Then on the other side repeat the same thing to create a leaf on the other side.

13. For an optional look, I painted a yellow over the bottom leaf and red over the top leaf. Once that is dry add the veins to the leaf by drawing a vertical line and lines on the side of the leaf, for this part follow the outline of the leaf, for the bottom leaf make seven lines. For the top leaf make six lines. (not shown in the photo above)

14. While we wait for the middle nail to dry, we will paint leaves on the pinky nail. For this nail I decided to do a mix of both of the shapes of the leaves, one yellow leaf like the leaves in step 12 and one red, orange, and yellow (which is had to see in the photo, it is on the other side of the red leaf) like the leaves in step 9. Just like before fill up most of the nail with leaves only leaving a little bit of peach polish showing.

 

15. Once the leaves dry once again add the veins of the leaves, by taking your black nail art polish/ stripper and drawing a vertical line, like in step 10 draw draw four more lines on the sides for the veins of the leaves. (not shown in photo above)   

16. For the thumb nail we will be making a turkey. The turkey I end up making was cartoon like, you can make your turkey cartoon like or more realistic it just depends on your style. First we will start of by making the head, I ended up using a dotting tool for this, if you want you can also use a small nail art brush. If you choose to us a dotting tool, dip the large end of the dotting tool into brown polish and with a stippling motion create a circle, then fill it in. 

17. Next is the turkey's body. Once again if you choose to use a dotting tool, first if needed you may need clean off your dotting tool. Then dip the large end of the dotting tool in brown polish, with a stippling motion create two curved lines on the side then fill in the body. If needed you can also use the smaller end to help fix the shape. 

18. Now we will be creating the bright feathers on the turkey. Take your small nail art brush and deep into a coral color polish (I used Tangerine Crush) and make a triangle like shape with no point at the top, on the top of the head and on both sides.

19. Repeat step 18 until the whole turkey is filled with feathers. The other colors that I used was yellow for four of the feathers, and orange for three more feathers. As always, you can paint the feathers whatever color you would like. After you are done with the feathers we need to make the beak. You can use your nail art brush or dotting tool for this. I used the dotting tool and made a small upside down triangle. 

20. Then after you are done with the beak we will create two eyes. First clean off your dotting tool, then dip the large end into white polish, and make two dots above the beak.

After the white dots for the eyes have dried, clean off your dotting tool. Now with the small end of the same dotting tool dipped in black polish, make two dots inside the white dots. Once your Thanksgiving nail design has dried apply a top coat. Now you are finished with this cute Thanksgiving nail design.
