Let it Snow or Not- Snowflake Winter Nail Design

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a good winter, or a least trying to get through it. If you live in a cold environment or really anywhere it has been a cold winter for everyone, even the people that live in a normally warmer environment. Anyways this week we will be creating a let is snow nail design even if we are all tired of the snow, I know I am. But for some reason I still wanted to create a snow themed nail design.

Here are the nail polishes and nail art tools used for this nail design: 

Base and top coat- - CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polish-  Zoya Enchanted- Saint, JulieG- Blueberry Fizz- texture, and Revlon Holographic Pearls (for some reason I didn't take a photo of this polish, so I garbed a photo from online.) 

Acrylic paint- white 

Nail art tools- medium and small dotting tool, detail brush, thin striping brush, and a small detail brush. 

Other- glass or cup of water to clean off nail art brushes.

Let's start this snow filled nail design!

As always start off with a thin layer of base coat.

Let the base coat dry and then on your index and pinky finger nail, polish that with a periwinkle blue polish (I used Zoya- Saint), then on your thumb, middle and ring finger nail polish that with a glittery or textured periwinkle blue polish (I used  JulieG- Blueberry Fizz this is a textured polish). 

On my right hand I polished the thumb and ring finger with JulieG- Blueberry Fizz and the index, middle, and pinky with Zoya- Saint.

Then for an added touch, I just had to add some holo to this design. Take a holographic top coat (I used Revlon Holographic Pearls) one that has a little bit of holo in it, and apply that to all of the nails over both of the polishes.

Then let your base colors dry, and now on the snowflakes.This design like most of the designs I do, it is just random patterns/ lines that are put together, their is no set way of doing this design. 

All of the snowflakes should start off with a star like pattern, then add some arrow like lines on each line, you can have a lot of lines, one, or just a few.

On the thumb, the snowflake that is on the lower right hand corner I added some triangle shapes in the center of the snowflake.  

Then on all of the nails with a dotting tool, you can make some small dots for some small snowflakes.

To be extra random on the pinky finger nail on the left hand, I added some swirls on the side of the nail.

Then on the right hand on the ring finger nail, I took a stripping brush and made some line lines that looked kind of like icicles, with two small star shapes for snowflakes.

Once you have your snowflakes the way you like apply a top coat to protect your nails from the cold and snowy weather, or really just from chipping to soon.

It's Freezing Outside- Blue glitter gradient

Hello everyone! For this weeks post I wanted to create a winter themed nail design for all of you. It has been another cold and snowy winter (at least where I live) and I thought I would show all of you a simple blue glitter gradient design, to help all of you get through this cold winter with some cool nail designs.

 Here are the polishes and nail tools used to create this blue glitter gradient nail design:

Top coat and base coat - Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat and - Nicole OPI-  3in1- base, top, & strengthener.

Nail polishes- Sinful Color- Cinderella, NYC- Water street blue, JulieG- Blueberry Fizz- texture, Color Club- Halo's- Blue Heaven, 
Cover Girl- Boundless color- Disco dazzle (this polish you can't find in stores, this is an old polish that I have that is still good, but you can find ones that are very similar to this in stores.)
,and Color Club-  Mini- Silver Glitter.

* I decided to retake the nail polish photos. I have been using a different set up to take photos of the polishes and the final nail design, that hopefully looks a little bit better. 

The Skill level for this blue glitter gradient nail design is:

Beginner Basic

This is a very simple nail design that is great for beginners. This design consist of just painting your nails a solid color of light blue, then sponging on a little bit darker blue, then adding glitter with large and small glitter pieces, then for a final touch add a little more glitter on the tips of the nail.

Now let's begin this winter/ freezing nail design! 

*Just a tip, it is best to work quickly to try and get the two colors to blend together as best as you can.

1. Start off with a thin layer of base coat.

Last week when I did the post about the Zoya dream box, I actually broke my index nail on my left hand at work. Unsure if you can tell from last weeks post and this week, I had to cut my nails a little bit shorter then I usually do. But luckly I was able to save most of my nail, even though at first I thought I broke it in a bad spot.  

2. Paint all of your nails a light blue, except for your ring finger this will be the accent nail. On the left hand I paint the ring finger with a blue textured polish and then the right ring finger nail with a blue holographic polish, just to change things up a little bit.

3. Next take you makeup sponge and cut a small piece of it, then paint a small bit of the sponge with a little bit darker blue polish. 

4. Then take your sponge and dab the polish on the nail, the tip of the nail should have more polish/ be darker, then the color should almost fade into the lighter blue, by dabbing less polish on the nail the farther you go on the nail.

5. For this step you do not need to wait for the blue polish that you just sponged to dry. You take a glitter polish that has small and large glitter pieces in it and right away polish over the blue that you just sponged on. This can help to blend in the color. 

6. For a final touch take another glitter polish that has small glitter pieces and paint the just tips of your nails, for more of a frosty look.

Once your nail design has dried dried finish off this look with a top coat. Now you have a beautiful winter theme nail design, that will hopefully take away your winter blues, well at least until the weather gets warmer.

Munchkin's Favorites- Blueberry texture

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been a few weeks since I last did a post. As stated in my last post, Autumn Harvest, I was on vacation (went on a Caribbean cruise) for about a week. I got back late last weekend and was feeling a little sea lagged. That is why I have not posted any nail designs for two weeks. I was just trying to get back into the swing of things and get back use to being on land. 
Well now that I am back from vacation, I will continue with all the fun and bright nail designs I like to show all of you.

For this weeks post I will be doing a Munchkin's favorites. Their are many nail polish trends out their from holograph, matte, glitter, shatter, texture, the list goes on. The polish that I will be going over/ reviewing is one of my favorite finishes, textured polish. 
 
When it comes to textured polish unlike regular polish that is smooth and shinny, textured polish has a gritty sand like feel to it, but still can be shinny (depending on what kind of textured polish you get, their is some with glitter and with out.) I think that textured polish is a little similar to glitter polish other then it is more gritter to the tough.      

This polish is from the Julie G collection it actually has been out since last year 2013 (but it is still available at Rite Aid), it was part of the Frosted Gumdrops collection. I had just bought this polish this summer and had been waiting for a good time to give this polish a try. I thought what better time to give this polish a try then when I went on vacation for a week, to test the wear. 

As you can see from the picture above the color looks kind of purple, but it is actually suppose to be a light blue with some silver in it. For some reason when I put this polish on in different light, sometimes it would seem to look purple then other times it would look like it 's true color of light blue.When I looked up other peoples switches of this same polish it looked like a very bright blue, so I am unsure why this polish seem to change colors for me. 

  Here it the Julie G Blueberry Fizz in the bottle, where it clearly looks blue.

In shade this polish looks purple in sunlight it looks light blue.

As for wear, I did use a base coat and topcoat even though on the bottle it says          
for full effect do not use top coat. For textured polish I found if you use a thin layer of top coat you can still have the full effect of the textured polish. As for the textured polish it self I used three thin layers to have the color be opaque. The wear of this polish was excellent, all thought I did not have the normal wear and tear that I get from work. This polish lasted about ten days with very little chipping (mainly just a little chipping on my index finger on the right hand.) I normally touch up my nails every other day to every day, but due to me being on vacation I did no touch ups.  

When it comes to textured polish I have found the wear of any of these polishes to be very good. As for the Julie G blueberry fizz, I really like this polish and would recommend it. This polish was great for vacation, where you might not have time or the polish to touch up your nails.
