Snow day- Glitter Gradient and Snowflake Nail Design

Hello everyone! Happy New Year well a little late in the month, but still not to late. Sorry I have not post anything in a while, I have been a little bit busy/ tired. Anyways today we will be creating a winter nail design, a glitter gradient with some snowflakes. So far in the area I live winter has been kind of mild not much snow, which I am perfectly fine with, but I thought because it is still winter it would be cool to make a winter/ snowy nail design. 

  

Snow day! Winter nail design

Here are the polishes and nail art tools used to create this winter nail design: 

 

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Your base color Zoya Enchanted- Saint, for the glitter gradient Color Club- Mini- Silver Glitter and blue and purple glitter. 

Acrylic paint- white

Nail art tools- Thin stripper brush and small dotting tool.

Other- Makeup sponge for glitter gradient, and a small cup of water to clean off nail art brushes.

Start off with clean nails and then apply a thin coat of base coat to make your polish last. 

Let that dry.

Then on all of your nails, polish them with a periwinkle blue (I used Zoya - Saint.) 

Let that dry as well.

Then on to the glitter gradient, for this you will need a makeup sponge. For me I found it easier to first take the polish and the brush it came in, and polish the gradient on first and then sponge on more of the glitter. 

For this gradient we will start from the cuticle and then go down the nail. For the glitter gradient most of the glitter will be focused/ mainly be near the cuticle and then faded in to less glitter as we go down the nail. 

As stated above I first took the brush and polished the glitter on and then I took a makeup sponge putting some of the glitter polish on to the sponge and dabbed it on to the nail. 

  

  

Winter nail design

Once you have your glitter gradient the way you like on to the snowflakes, to make this more of a winter design. On my left hand I did put snowflakes on all of the nails and on my right hand I only put snowflakes on three nails. 

For each nail you can make each snowflake different. Some nails I put one snowflake the other nails two with some small dots. 

For each snowflake they all start off with a X and then look kind of star shaped, some of the flakes you can leave as is or add more lines to make them different. Then once you have the larger flakes you can take a dotting tool and make small dots for very small snowflakes.

Once you have your winter nail design the way you like apply a top coat to seal in your design and to help it last thought your next snow day, or just a regular day. I don't know about you but I am fine with a mild winter with little snow, it was much better when we where kids and had actually snow days, now we don't get snow days we still have to go to work no matter what.

Let it Snow or Not- Snowflake Winter Nail Design

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a good winter, or a least trying to get through it. If you live in a cold environment or really anywhere it has been a cold winter for everyone, even the people that live in a normally warmer environment. Anyways this week we will be creating a let is snow nail design even if we are all tired of the snow, I know I am. But for some reason I still wanted to create a snow themed nail design.

 Snowflake Nail Design

Here are the nail polishes and nail art tools used for this nail design: 

Base and top coat- - CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polish-  Zoya Enchanted- Saint, JulieG- Blueberry Fizz- texture, and Revlon Holographic Pearls (for some reason I didn't take a photo of this polish, so I garbed a photo from online.) 

Acrylic paint- white 

Nail art tools- medium and small dotting tool, detail brush, thin striping brush, and a small detail brush. 

Other- glass or cup of water to clean off nail art brushes.

Let's start this snow filled nail design!

As always start off with a thin layer of base coat.

Let the base coat dry and then on your index and pinky finger nail, polish that with a periwinkle blue polish (I used Zoya- Saint), then on your thumb, middle and ring finger nail polish that with a glittery or textured periwinkle blue polish (I used  JulieG- Blueberry Fizz this is a textured polish). 

On my right hand I polished the thumb and ring finger with JulieG- Blueberry Fizz and the index, middle, and pinky with Zoya- Saint.

Then for an added touch, I just had to add some holo to this design. Take a holographic top coat (I used Revlon Holographic Pearls) one that has a little bit of holo in it, and apply that to all of the nails over both of the polishes.

Then let your base colors dry, and now on the snowflakes.This design like most of the designs I do, it is just random patterns/ lines that are put together, their is no set way of doing this design. 

All of the snowflakes should start off with a star like pattern, then add some arrow like lines on each line, you can have a lot of lines, one, or just a few.

On the thumb, the snowflake that is on the lower right hand corner I added some triangle shapes in the center of the snowflake.  

Then on all of the nails with a dotting tool, you can make some small dots for some small snowflakes.

To be extra random on the pinky finger nail on the left hand, I added some swirls on the side of the nail.

Then on the right hand on the ring finger nail, I took a stripping brush and made some line lines that looked kind of like icicles, with two small star shapes for snowflakes.

Once you have your snowflakes the way you like apply a top coat to protect your nails from the cold and snowy weather, or really just from chipping to soon.

Let's Build a Snowman- Snowman Nail Design

Hello everyone! Today on the blog we are going to build a snowman! Not out of actually snow, we are going to paint a snowman and some snowflakes on our nails. This design may seem a little Christmas like, but I thought I could just make it a winter design and that seem to work out with then polish color that I picked out.

Here are the polishes and nail art tools used for this snowman design:

 

Base and Top coat - CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Zoya Enchanted- Saint, Zoya- Urban Grunge- Alicia, and Funky Fingers- glow in the dark- #Boo2U.

Acrylic paint- white, black, blue, red, yellow ( red and yellow to make orange.) 

Nail art tools- thin detail brush, striper brush, and a small dotting tool.

Other- a small glass jar or cup with water in it to clean up nail art brushes.

 Let's build a snowman!

As always start off with a thin layer of base coat, to protect your nails and to help your winter design/ manicure last.

On all of you nails polish them with a periwinkle blue (I used Zoya's Saint).

*For this design we will be creating it on three of the nails; the thumb, middle and ring nail, the index and pinky will just have the periwinkle color on them. 

Once that has dried, on the thumb on the tip of the nail, polish that with a silver holographic polish (I used Zoya's Alicia) this will be the snow that the snowman will be sitting on. 

On your middle and ring finger nail you can polish that with one coat of a glitter polish, to kind of give a subtle snow look to the nails. (I used Funky Fingers- #Boo2U, which is a glow in the dark light blue glitter polish.)

As we wait for that to dry we can make our snowman on the thumb nail. I personally like to make the more detailed or a accent design on the thumb because their is more space then on the ring finger nail.  

Anyways with white acrylic paint make two snow balls, that are stacked on top of each other. Then make two small arms on the side of the snow man.

* For this next step you will need to mix at lest three different shades of blue, a dark (the original blue that you have), medium, and a light blue.  

Next with your dark blue make a scruff around your snowman's neck, you can go over this with the medium blue as well.

For the snowman I did jump around a bit, so the next step would be making two black buttons with a small dotting tool.

For his face with that same dotting tool and some black paint make two eyes. 

Then with some orange paint (if you don't have any mix red and yellow together) make a small carrot nose.

With your thin detail brush make a smile, to complete your cute snowman's face.

Next we need to make his warm, soft hat. With your thin detail brush and a stippling motion, paint the fuzzy part of his hat. For this I found that using a light blue and white without cleaning the brush made the hat look nice.    

After you have the fuzzy part, we will make the rest of the hat. With some darker blue make a curved shape for the rest of his hat, you can go over this part with different blues as well. Then after that just add a puff ball at the end of his hat. Now you have a cute snowman on your thumb nail.

Now on to our snowflakes. For this their is no set way of making your snowflakes because all snowflakes are suppose to be different. For all of the snowflakes that I made I stared off with a X and kind of a star shape, then I added random lines (like the photo above) some of the snowflakes I add some dots with the silver holo polish. 

For all of the snowflakes I used a thin striper brush with white acrylic paint.

Here is the snowflake design that I did on my other hand, this can also be another option if painting the snowman is a little to hard. As you can see I tried to make each snowflake some what different, some of then I felt where kind of similar.

Once your cute snowman design has dried apply a top coat to help your nail design for melting or just chipping. Now your nails are ready for the remaining winter months ahead.

Also here is the practice version that I did, I thought it turned out super cute and was worth sharing. 

Hope all of you enjoyed this snowman and snowflake nail design, even though it might have a slight Christmas feel to it, I felt like the polish colors I picked help it to be more of a winter design vs. a Christmas one.
