Hello everyone! Happy almost Valentine's Day! For Valentine's Day this year we will be creating of course a heart design, along with some swirls too, and of course we have to have some glitter.

Here are the polishes and nail art tools used to create this nail design:

 

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat. 

Nail polishes- China Glaze mini- Sesame Street- Giggling All The Way, and Glitter Daze- Let's have a Waikiki.

Acrylic paints- White, red, and black.

Nail art brushes- Thin detail brush and thin stripper brush.

A cup of water to clean off your nail art brushes.

Apply base coat, then let that dry.

Polish- 

Thumb, index, middle, pinky- Shimmer pink polish.

Ring finger- Pink glitter polish. 

Let that dry.

Starting with the thumb nail, first make a large heart near the left side of your nail.

Then make some random swirls coming from the heart, I did three from the top and one from the bottom. Then from those swirls create more. (I know that is a weird way to describe how to do that part, but I was not to sure how to describe that part.) 

Then from those swirls make a few hearts, I made four in different spots.

For the index and middle finger nail designs, these two are the same just on opposite sides.

On the index nail make a heart on the right side of the nail, then make a swirl on both sides, on the top of the heart make three curved lines at the top, then make a few dots a well. You can also outline the heart as well.

For the middle finger nail repeat the same steps just on the left side.

Lastly the heart design on the pinky finger nail. Once again make a large heart in the middle of the nail and then make some swirls at the top and bottom. You can also outline the heart if you would like or not.

Once you have your heart nail design the way you like, apply a top coat to seal in your design and to help it last through your Valentine's day date or just for fun.

Minnie Mouse Nail Design

Hello everyone! Today we will be creating a Minnie Mouse nail design. In the past I have created two Mickey Mouse nail designs, so today we will show Minnie Mouse some love as well. Growing up and still now I have always loved Mickey and Minnie, but Mickey has always been my most favorite. How about all of you which one is your favorite or do you love both Mickey and Minnie the same? 

Minnie Mouse Nail Design 

Here are the nail polishes and nail art tools used for this Minnie nail design: 

 

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Zoya- Renee- Redbook trio, Glitter Daze- Let's have a Waikiki, and Sally Hansen- Hard as Nails- Black Heart. 

Acrylic paint- Black, white, red, and peach.

(Using paint for nail art makes things so much easier, if you mess up you can always wipe it off, as long as the paint has not dried.)  

Nail art tools- large dotting tool, thin detail and liner brushes, and a very small thin detail brush.

a small cup of water to clean off your nail art brushes.

Let start this Minnie Mouse nail design!  

 

Minnie Mouse Nail Design

Apply a thin layer of base to clean dry nails, to help protect your nails and to help your Minnie design to last.

Let that dry.

Then polish your index, ring, and pinky nail with a red creme polish, then polish your middle finger nail with a black polish, lastly polish your thumb nail with a glitter pink polish. 

Let that dry as well.

Dots on the Index and Pinky Finger nail:

Once your polish has dried we will start the nail design, first off we will create the dots that are on the index and pinky nail. This is done simply by taking a large dotting tool with white paint on it and make a line/ row of dots, I started from the bottom right hand corner near the cuticle and then went up the nail, still staying in a row, that way the dots look neat. 

 

Minnie Mouse Nail Design

This time I wanted to kind of start off with the hard part first, after all this was the nail that I started off with when I did this design. I  do jump around a lot when I do my nails, just to let parts dry on each nail. 

This design is basically the same as the Mickey Mouse nail design, you just need to add a bow and eye lashes. But of course I will go step by step through the process of making Minnie.   

Minnie Mouse on the Thumb nail:

On the thumb nail we will start off with Minnie's face shape, we will be using peach acrylic paint for this part, first make kind of a heart shape at the top for her head and then make to half circles on the sides for her checks. You will need to go over this a few times to be opaque.  

Then on to her ears and the side of her face. For the side of her face just follow the outline of the top of her head, but just make this part is kind of thick. Then make two circles on top of her head for her ears. 

* I actually ended up making her head a little to big and had to squish her ears in, but I still think Minnie turned out good, so make sure if you create this that you don't make her head to big and give yourself enough room for her ears.*   

Then on to Minne's face. We will first make her eyes, take a thin detail brush with white paint on it and make two long ovals right next to each other, then fill them in with the white. Once that is dry make two smaller black ovals in the white oval for her pupils.

For her nose, first make a large arch right under her eyes, then under that arch make a oval for her nose and fill that in with black.
 

For the final touches for Minnie's face we need to make her smile, take your very small detail brush with black paint on it make a large curved line, then two small curved lines at the end of each of the larger curved line.

Right now our Minnie is looking more like Mickey, to change that we need to add lashes and a bow on top of her head. For her lashes take your very small detail brush with black paint on it and above her eyes make three lines for her lashes.

For Minnie's bow, on top of her head make a red circle right between her ears, then on each side of that circle make kind of a side ways heart shape for the bow it's self. You will need to go over this a few time to be opaque. 

Once her red bow has dried take the smaller end of your dotting tool and make some small white dots on her bow. 

Now the hard part is over and you have a cool looking Minnie Mouse on your thumb nail.

Now on to the more easier parts of this design, the Mickey Mouse shapes, that are actually upside down for the photos (oops!) and Minnie's bow.

Mouse Head shapes on the Ring Finger nail:

For your mouse head shapes take a large dotting tool with black paint on it and dot one large dot for the head and two more on the side for the ears, do this a few more time all around the nail, I did this three times. 

Repeat this same step for the white mouse head shapes, and it is okay if the white and black shapes over laps some. I also did this three times as well.

Minnie's Red Bow on the Middle finger nail:

Lastly we will be creating Minnie's iconic bow on the middle finger nail. This will be the same as the small bow that we made on Minnie on our thumb nail, just bigger. 

With a detail brush with red paint on it, make a big red circle in the middle of the nail, then on each side of that circle make kind of a side ways heart shapes for the bow it's self. You will need to go over this a two time to be opaque. 

Then let the red bow dry, then with your dotting tool with white paint on it make a few white dots on the bow.

For this design because we used a lot of red and red's are know for smearing, I suggest waiting longer for this one to dry before top coating, the last thing you want to do is to smear your design that you worked so hard on. 

When top coating first start off with the nails that are not red, like Minnie and the bow, then with a lot of top coat on the brush kind of glide over the red nails to try to make sure they don't smear.

Hugs and Kisses- Valentine's Day Design

Hello everyone! Happy Valentine's Day! Today we will be creating a design with a few different holographic polishes, five polishes (I know that is kind of a lot, but you can always just use a few, or all of the polishes.) This design will have some hearts (or course) and the letters XO. This design is great for your V-day date or just for fun even if you don't have a valentines. 

  

Valentine's Day Nail Design

Here are the polishes and nail art tools used for this V-day nail design:

 

Base and top coat - CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Glitter Daze- Let's have a Waikiki, Cupcake Polish- Lord Licorice- CandyLand, Superchic Lacquer- Cherub, Cirque- Madder, and Color Club Halo's- Harp on. 

Nail art brushes- thin stripper brush, thin detail brush, and small detail brush.

Acrylic paint- white and red.

Other- small cup of water, and small glass jar with acetone for cleaning nail art brushes.

Let's start this love filled nail design! 

Valentine's Day Nail Design

Start off with a thin layer of base coat, then let that dry.

Once your base coat has dried polish your thumb with a pink glittery polish (I used Glitter Daze- Let's have a Waikiki), your index nail with a red holo glitter polish (I used Cupcake Polish- Lord Licorice), your middle and pinky nail with a red holo polish (I used Superchic Lacquer- Cherub), and then a dark red holo on your ring finger nail (I used Cirque- Madder.)

Let all of your base colored polishes dry, then we will start the nail designs.

We will start on the thumb nail, on the left hand I painted two hearts and the right hand I just painted one heart. You can pick out which one you would like to do on the thumb nail.

Take a thin detail brush with red acrylic paint, and near the side of the nail make a big heart outline, then fill that in. Then over lapping that heart, make a smaller heart right next to the big heart. 

One big heart:

If you just want to make one heart, do the same thing, just make the heart bigger. First make the outline for the heart and then fill that in with the red acrylic paint.

Valentine's Day Nail Design

For the next part of the design we will paint XO (hugs & kisses) on our index nail. Take a thin detail brush with white paint on it, near the side of the nail carefully paint an X and then right next to the X make a circle shape for the O.

For the last part of this design, we will make the love raining down on us, on the ring finger nail. Take a thin stripper brush with a silver holo polish (I used Color Club Halo's- Harp on)  and make different size lines, some long and some short, right next to each other. 

Then near the tip of the nail make three small heart, I actually at first made the shape of the hearts with white acrylic paint and then filled them in with the silver holo polish.

On the middle and pinky finger nail, we will just leave those as is, with just the red holo polish.

Once you have your design the way you like/ love apply a top coat to help protect your nails and to make them nice a shinny for your valentines day date.

Aloha Flowers- Hibiscus flower Nail Design

Hello everyone! Today we will be creating a summer design, even though we are headed into fall. The design we will be creating is a tropical design, a hibiscus flower. During the month of August I wanted to create more tropical nail designs for all of you, but then I had a medical issue that prevented me from do that. So I thought it would still be fun to create a tropical flower design anyways. After all where I live it surprisingly still fells like summer, for now.

Here are the polishes and tools used for this tropical flower nail design:

 

Base and Top Coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Polishes- Picture Polish- Salt Water- Nailstorming and Glitter Daze- Let's have a Waikiki.

Acrylic paint- white, red, green, and yellow.

Nail art tools- two thin detail brushes. 

Other- cup or glass of water to clean off your nail brushes.

Let's start this tropical flower nail design, even though summer is coming to an end. 

  Hibiscus flower on the thumb nail

As always start of with a thin layer of base coat to protect your nails.

Once your base coat has dried, polish all of your nails except your ring finger nail with a light blue polish, then polish your ring finger nail with a glittery pink polish.

Then once your base colors have dried we will start our tropical flower design. On the thumb and middle finger nail we will make a big flower, then on the index and pink we will just make half of the flower, along with some palm leafs on all of the nails.

* For this design I used acrylic paint, I did not have all the colors so I just mixed a few colors to make my own. For the light pink I took mainly white paint and added a little bit of red, then for the slightly darker pink, I just added a little more red. For the green, I used the green I already had and then made a light green by adding some yellow. * 

First we will stat off with the big hibiscus, that we be on the thumb and middle finger nail.We will first make the outline of each petal, starting near the cuticle make two petal shapes, then make the two petals on the sides, and then one more in the middle at the top of the flower. Then fill that in with your light pink paint. You may need to go over this a few times to be opaque.

As we let that dry on to the next flowers, the half hibiscus on the the index and pinky finger nails. For this flower we will make it near the cuticles on opposite sides. Once again make a petal shape in the middle near the cuticle and then one on each side of that petal, their should only be three petals. Then fill that in as well with the light pink paint.

Now that your petals are dried we will add the darker pink to the center. On each petal just make a few line going from the center and going half way down the petal.

Once that has dried we will make the steam or the yellow part that is in the center of a hibiscus. With yellow paint make a curved line from the center of each flower going in different directions, with three small dots at the end. You may also have to go over this a few times to be opaque enough.

Now on to the palm leaves, on each nail I put one to two leaves going in all different directions and on different places on the nails. For the palm leaves with a dark green paint, make a long thin line that is straight or a little bit curved, then make a lot of small little lines for the leaves going down that long line, making sure to have a little bit of space in between each small line. In between the small dark green leaves, with your light green paint make some more lines to add some detail/ color different in the palm leaf.

Once you have your hibiscus tropical flower nail design the way you like and you have let it dry, apply a top coat to seal in your design and to help it last.

As per usual, I sometime will do the same design on my right hand that is a little bit more simple (or not.) For the design on my right hand, for the most part I kept it the same, with the large flower on my thumb and then on the index and middle finger nail, I just made the half flower, and on the pinky nail I just made a palm leaf.

Teddy Bear Hugs- Valentine's Day Nail Design

Hello everyone! Happy Valentine's Day! Well all most Valentine's Day. Today we will be taking a break from the Experiment 626 collection (more to come next week) and we will be creating a cute Valentine's Day design, called teddy bear hugs. This design will have a cute teddy bear on the thumb and a heart shape that will come together on the middle and ring finger nail.

Here are the polishes and tools used for this Valentine's Day design:

 

Base and Top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail Polishes- OPI- Hello Kitty- Look at My Bow!, OPI- Hello Kitty- Charmmy& Sugar, OPI Hawaii- Do you take Lei away, and Glitter Daze- Let's have a Waikiki.

Acrylic paint- red, white, and black

Nail art tools- medium size dotting tool, small detail brush, and Artist's Loft brush 0 (new brush set that I purchase from Michaels art's and crafts store.) 

Other- small jar or cup with water in it to clean brushes.

Let's start this cute teddy bear Valentine's day nail design! 

 

 Valentine's Day heat design

As always start off with a thin layer of base coat, my favorite is CND Stickey Base coat.

Once your base coat has dried polish your thumbnail a tan color (for the bear), your index a light glitter pink, your middle and index nail with a cream pink polish, and your pinky with a silver tone glitter pink.  

After that has dried, we will start off with the heart that will be on two nails and when you put your two nails together they should look like a full heart. 

On both your middle and ring finger nail with a thin brush with red acrylic paint on it, draw the outline of the heart shape, just half of the heart shape on each finger, and try to make sure they line up when you put your finger together. Then fill your heart with the red paint once you have the shape you want.

For the more detailed designs like the teddy bear, I like to do that design on the thumb nail rather then the ring finger because the thumb nail is bigger and their is more space to paint.

For the bear you can have the base or background be any color like brown, tan, white, whatever color you would like your bear to be. I choose a tan neutral colored polish, and you know how I feel about neutrals (blah) but if I incorporate them into a design with color I don't  mind it so much. 

Anyways for your bear take a thin brush with black paint on it, first paint the circle for the head. Before the head is completely dry on the lower left hand side of the head with a wet Q-tip wipe of just a little bit of his head, this is where his paw will be.

Then draw his paw on that side of his face, this paw will be up. His other paw will kind of be more toward the side, so you will need to paint the paw a little bit tilted.  

For his body you just add two small curved lines on each side.

Next I painted the heart that the bear will be holding. For the heart first paint the outline and then fill in the heart shape with red paint. 

Once you have your heart, we will go onto the ears. For the ears just make to half circles on top of his head.    

Now on to his cute face, first we will make the white part on his face by just making a oval shape with white paint.This part actully looks better if the white is a little bit sheer.

Then with medium size dotting tool with black paint on it make two eyes and a little nose.

I was going to make a smile and maybe some rosy checks, but I thought the bear looked cute as it.

Here is the practice version of the teddy bears, where at first I decided to have a smile and rosy checks on one of the bears. But in the finally design I thought it looked cute as is.

Once your cute Valentine's day design has dried apply a top coat to seal in your design and to protect your nails.

As usual or lately I have a simpler design that I created on my right hand. The bear was quite hard to make on my left hand, I am still trying to get better at draw more cleaner crisper lines which can be hard to do on a nail, but like with anything it takes time and practice. Also I am always on the search for small brushes that might help, which I recently found at Michaels in their paint area.  

For the right hand I decided to just paint a large heart on the thumb nail and the same heart that I did on my left hand. I did have some trouble lining up the two heart pieces, as you can tell.
