Lucky Day- St. Patrick's Day Nail Desig

Hello everyone! Happy St Patrick's Day! First off I want to say sorry for not posting for a while (since Valentine's Day) I have just been feeling tried from work and I have been a little busy. Anyways today we will be creating a rainbow and pot of gold nail design that will start from the thumb nail and go to the ring finger nail. 

St. Patrick's Day Nail Design

Here are the polishes and nail art tools used to create this lucky nail design:

 

Base and top coat-  CND Stickey Base Coat and  Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- OPI Hawaii- My Gecko Does Tricks, China glaze mini- Grinch- Grinchworthy, and Fun Lacquer- Million Dollar Dream.  

Acrylic paint- black, red, blue, yellow, and green.

Nail art tools- medium dotting tool, and a thin detail brush. 

A small cup of water to clean off your nail art brushes. 

 

 

 St. Patrick's Day Nail Design

Start by removing any old polish that you might have on your nails. On clean dry nails, apply a thin layer of base coat.  

Let that dry.

Once your base coat has dried polish your thumb, index, middle, and ring finger nail with a shimmery green polish (I used OPI My Gecko Does Tricks), then for your pinky finger nail polish that with a glittery green polish (I used China Glaze- Grinchworthy).

Let that dry as well.

Once your polish has dried we will first be creating the rainbow that will go across most of the nails on the index, middle, and ring finger nail, the rainbow we also will be on the thumb nail as well. For the pinky nail I decided to leave it as is with just  green glitter polish, but you can always make the rainbow go on to the pinky nail as well. 

Rainbow Design:

Starting off with the index nail, take your thin detail brush with blue paint on it and make a curved line near the cuticle staring on the side of the nail.

On the middle finger nail, take that same blue and make a arch near the cuticle.

Then on the ring finger nail, once again with that same blue, make another curved line that will end at the other side of the nail.

Repeat this step for each color; red, green, and yellow. When you are done it should look like a rainbow that is stretched from all three of your nails, along with the thumb later on.

Rainbow and the Pot of Gold: 

Lastly is the lucky part of this nail design, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

First we will make the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Take a thin detail brush with black paint on it, near the middle of the nail and off to the side make a thick line that is curved on each corner, this is for the top of the pot. Then make a circle that is attached to the line you just made for the top of the pot. 

Also we need to complete the rainbow that will be coming out of the pot/ the end of the rainbow. For this step once again repeat the steps to make the rainbow, make sure the rainbow is near the cuticle and off the side of the nail. 

For the final touches take a gold glitter polish (I used Fun Lacquer- Million Dollar Dream) I then used a dotting tool to place the glitter, or you can just place the glitter with the polish brush on to the pot of gold. 

I also added a curved line and a small dot on the side of the pot as well, just for that small bit of detail.

Once your St. Patrick's Day design is all done and ready to bring you luck, apply a top coat to seal in your design and help it to last.

Purple Gradient and Chevron Nail Design

Hello everyone! Today we will be creating a simple gradient chevron nail design with purple polishes. For this nail design you can use what ever colors you would like, I just decided to go with purples and a gold background. 

 

Gradient and chevron Nail Design 

Here are the polishes and tools used for this gradient and chevron nail design:

  

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and  Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Polishes- Revlon- Gold Coin, OPI Hawaii- Lost my Bikini in Molokini, Zoya Sunshine- Delia, and  China glaze- Shades of Paradise- Board. Optional- Revlon- Holographic Pearls- Transforming Effects.

Nail art supplies- A thin stripper brush if needed for detail work/ clean up the lines, and stripping tape. 

Other- (not shown) small glass dappen dish with acetone in it to clean off nail art brush, tweezers to take stripping tape off of the nails. 

Let start this nail design!

 Purple Gradient and Chevron Nail Design 

Start off with a thin layer of base coat, and let that dry.

For this design you can do the chevron/ gradient on all of your nails or just a few, I decided to do the design on three nails; the thumb, middle and ring finger nails, and keep the index and pinky fingers a solid color.

Once your base coat has dried, polish all of the nails that you are going to do the design on with a gold polish, this is your base color/ gold stripes. 

If you are following the way I have done this design then polish your thumb, middle and ring finger nail gold, then polish your index nail with a dark purple (I used OPI Hawaii- Lost my Bikini in Molokini), and then polish your pinky finger nail with a light purple (I used Zoya Sunshine- Delia.)

Once your base colors are pretty much fully dry, we can start the chevron/ gradient design. With the gradient you are suppose to go from lightest to darkest color (or the other way around) but I didn't follow what I just said on the middle and ring finger nail, I did follow what I said on the thumb nail.

For this design take a piece of stripping tape and cut it in to two pieces, place it on the nail one at a time in a triangle shape. Depending on how long your nail is will determine how many triangle shapes you can do, on my thumb I did three triangles of stripping tape, and then on the middle and ring finger nail, I did two.

Once you have your stripping tape placed, open all of your bottles of polish that way you can get to them easily. Staring near the cuticle polish a light purple or dark, depending on if you are following my color pattern or not, then polish a medium purple or light purple, then right away peel of the tape that you put on that area with tweezers.

* Do not let the polish dry on these two steps, doing this helps to make the lines look cleaner.*

Then for the last color, polish near the tip of the nail dark purple or medium purple and then once again with tweezers take off the stripping tape.

Also if need you can clean up your gold lines with a stripping brush dipped into that same polish. I needed to do this for the medium colored polish, China glaze- Boujee Board because of it being a matte it was acting kind of weird and when I pulled up the tape the polish wanted to come with it a little bit, so I had to go over the gold lines again with a stripping brush to make them look straight.

As an optional touch I applied a holographic topcoat to this design, but you can always leave it as is. I actually wish when I first did this design that I would have not applied the holo top coat to the chevron/ gradient part, and just applied it to the nails that had not design on it, but as the week went on and I had this on my nails it didn't look to bad and I started to like it. 

Anyways once you have finished your design apply a clear top coat to seal in your design and to help it it last.

Lava Meets Water- Gradient Nail Design

Hello everyone! Sorry that it has been a few weeks since I did a post, my allergies have really been acting up for the longest and I finally decided to go back to the allergy specialist and I unfortunately have to get allergy shots now, but hopefully they will help. Also work has been very stressful as well. 

Anyways this week I wanted to do another gradient, their is a color combo that I have been wanting to do for the longest with some of the polishes from the OPI Hawaii collection that came out back in 2015. I saw the polishes Go with the Lava Flow and This Color's Making Waves made on Pinterest a few years ago, and it was put together to create a cool looking gradient, and I didn't get around to do it, until now.

Here are the few polishes and nail art tools used for this gradient nail design: 

Base and Top Coat - CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail Polishes- OPI Hawaii- Go with the Lava Flow and OPI Hawaii- This Color's Making Waves.

Nail art tools- Liquid latex for easy clean up (if you have a latex allergy do not use this!) and makeup sponge to create the gradient.  

Other- Tweezers to peel of latex (not in photo above)

That's all you need! 

Let's start this colorful nail design! I don't know about all of you, but I am tired of this long never ending winter and just wanted to create a colorful nail look.

 

OPI Hawaii, Go with the Lava Flow and this Color's Making Waves Gradient 

Start off with a thin layer of base coat to protect your nail and to help your polish to last.

Let your base coat dry, and then polish all of your nail with This Color's Making Waves a blueish- green polish with some gold shimmer in it, Go with the Lava Flow the pinkish, Coral, orange (it depends on the light) with gold shimmer in it, we will use for the tips of the nails.  

Let this dry as well and then we can start the gradient part. Also just to make the clean up a little easier we will put liquid latex on the sides and near the cuticles, that way we can just peel for the mess. Make sure to put two layers of the liquid latex on, I made the mistake of only putting one layer and I still had a big mess to clean up around my fingers.

 

 OPI Hawaii, Go with the Lava Flow and this Color's Making Waves Gradient

Now take your makeup sponge and polish the two colors, This Color's Making Waves and Go With The Lava Flow overlapping each other, then place the sponge on the nail and start to blend the polishes together to create a gradient, you will need to do this one more time to be opaque. 

I often find that this does not always work as well for me, so I did the above step and then sponged on each color one at a time for the secound layer, starting with Go With The Lava Flow near the tips of the nails, then taking This Color's Making Waves and slightly over lapping the sponging with Go With The Lava Flow, to try and get the two colors to look like they are blending together.

Once you have your gradient the way you like with some tweezers peel of the liquid latex, hopefully you will not have as big of a mess as I did after, it was kind of a pain to clean up with acetone and a clean up brush.

For this design it is fine to top coat when it is not fully dry, I always like to wait until my nail polish it pretty much dry before top coating, but in this case it is okay to top coat sooner because it seem to smooth out the sponge marks that are sometimes left behind.

Easter Egg Hunt- Easter Nail Design

Hello everyone! Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter! Today we will be creating a cute Easter egg hunt nail design, with a cute bunny in your Easter basket that want to protect or take all of your Easter eggs and candy, interpret that the way you would like.

 

Easter Nail Design

Here are the nail polishes and nail art tools used for this Easter bunny nail design: 

 

Base and Top coat - CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Zoya Mini- Rayne, Zoya Mini- Leslie, Zoya Mini- Daisy, Zoya Mini- Lillian, Zoya Mini- Eden and  OPI Hawaii- That's Hula- rious.

Acrylic paint-  black, white, blue, red, green, and yellow. Some where used to make the color brown.   

Nail art brushes- thin stripper brush, thin detail and liner brushes.

Other- small cup of water to clean off nail art brushes.

Let's start this Easter egg hunt, or nail design! 

Easter Egg Nail Design

Start off with a thin layer of base coat on your nails.

Let that dry and then polish all of your nails with a shimmer light blue ( I used Zoya- Rayne.)

Let your base color dry and then we will start with the Easter eggs in the grass, that will be on all of the nails except the thumb nail, that is where are main design will be.

For the grass on all five nails, have three different shades of green; a dark green, medium and light green. On your stripper brush start off with any shade of green, and then near the tip of the nail make a lot of lines, that look like blades of grass, that fill up the tip of your nail. Switch between the three shades of green and overlap the colors, also their is no need to clean off your brush each time, it actually looks better if the colors start to kind of blend. 

For the Easter eggs I deiced to keep them very simple, for each egg color just take the brush that is in the polish and make a egg shape with that brush, their is no need for small details or designs on the eggs unless you want to. For the egg color I used a light blue, light purple, yellow, light green and pink, I just put which ever color I wanted for the eggs on the nails.

 

    Easter Nail Design 

The first part of this nail design that was the easy part, the design on the thumb is a little bit harder. 

Next we will make our Easter bunny in the basket, he is hiding so that's way we can only see his ears. First we will make his basket, take a thin detail brush with brown paint on it and make the bottom part of the basket and then make a curved line for the handle, you will need to go over this a few times to be opaque. If you would like once the basket has dried you can outline the basket with black paint and then add a few lines on the basket for a little more detail.

For the bunny ears, take a liner brush with some white paint on it and make two ears in the middle of the basket and then once that is dry, add two small pink lines to finish the ears.

For the Easter eggs do the same as the the other nails just place four eggs in the basket and then two eggs on each side of the basket.

Once you have your Easter nail design the way you like apply a top coat to help your nails last through all of Easter egg hunt.

Hello Waves in the Moonlight- OPI & China Glaze Review

Hello everyone! You may wonder from the title what in the world kind of review is M.M.M doing today? As all of you may know I like to have a catchy title for each blog post, so today I just used one word from each of the three polishes that I will doing a review on. Two of the colors are from new collections and one is from a collection from last year. 

  

OPI 2016 Hello Kitty collection- My Pal Joey, Spring 2016 China Glaze- Moonlight the Night, and OPI Spring 2015 Hawaii Collection- This Color's Making Waves.

Here are the three polishes that we will be going over today, yes they are kind of random. I picked up these three polishes from two of the many nail polish adventures that I have gone on, and thought I would review them for all of you.

 

OPI Hello Kitty: My Pal Joey and on top China Glaze Moonlight the Night

First we have China Glaze Moonlight the Night from the Spring 2016 House of Colour collection and a polish from the OPI Hello Kitty collection My Pal Joey. I wore these two together Moonlight the night as a glitter topper over My Pal Joey, they seem to look nice together.   

  

China Glaze Moonlight the Night is a glitter topper with a clear base, navy blue, dark blue and iridescent hexagon and circle glitter pieces in it. This polish went on smooth and the glitter pay off was good a well. The polish looked good over top a blue polish. I wore two coats over My Pal Joey. This is meant to be a glitter topper, but if you wanted to you could wear it on it's own, you would probably have to have a lot of coats for it to be close to opaque.

Next we have OPI Hello Kitty My Pal Joey this is a blue cream polish. This polish was opaque for me in two coats, it did seem a little bit streaky, but once I applied a top coat it seem to self level and it looked fine.

 OPI Hawaii Collection 2015- This Color's Making Waves

Lastly is a polish that I picked up with the Hello Kitty polish, this was a polish that came out last year in the Hawaii collection but I thought was worth mentioning. The polish, This Color's Making Waves is a color that I have been kind of wanting for a while now, and I finally picked it up due to me getting a good deal on it.

 

Anyways This Color's Making Waves is a beautiful ocean looking blue/ green shimmer with gold shimmer in it as well. This polish was a little bit sheer and did take three coats to be opaque. I do say this color and Go with the Lava Flow where two of the most unique of the collection and the most beautiful as well.
