Sand Meets The Sea- Tropical Nail Design

Hello everyone! Today on the blog we will be creating a tropical nail design, using some polishes from the Holo Taco Vacation collection. When I first got this collection it gave me some inspiration for some tropical designs, which is my favorite to do in the summer time. So I do have a few planned that are inspired by this collection.

Tropical Nail Design

Here are the polishes and nail art tools used to create this sand meet the seas nail design:

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and CND Super Shiney Top Coat.

Polishes- Holo Taco- Beach Please- Vacation collection, Holo Taco- Never Tide Down- Vacation collection, and Holo Taco- Blue Freezie- Rainbow Collection.

Acrylic paint- Black and white.

Nail art brushes- Thin stripper brush, and medium flat brush.

Other- Makeup sponge and water to clean off your nail art brushes.

Apply a base coat to clean dry nails.

Let that dry.

For this design we will be polishing as we go no base color polish is needed.

First we will start off with the sand color on the tips of the nails (Holo Taco- Beach Please). On the thumb, index and pink nail, polish the sand color straight across like a French manicure.

For the middle and ring finger polish the sand color on a slant, the middle finger going to the left side, and the ring finger to the left side.

On all of the nails take a turquoise polish (Holo Taco- Never Tide Down) and polish from the sand to the cuticles.

For the darker color of the ocean, the darker blue take a makeup sponge with a blue holographic polish (Holo Taco- Blue Freezie) and polish some of the sponge and dab in on the nail near the cuticle until you get it to blend with the other color, you can also go back over the dark blue area with some of the turquoise color to blend the colors together.

Once you have the sea and the sand done, let that dry.

Now that the sea and sand part is dry, we will make the white part where the sand meets the sea. Take a flat brush with watered down white paint and dab the brush on the line of where the sand meets the sea.

Once you have your ocean looking just the way you want, we will add the palm trees. On the middle finger nail make one palm tree on the left side.

On the ring finger nail make two palm trees no the right side, one palm tree small then the other one.

Lastly on the thumb add one palm leaf on the left side of the nail.

Once your nails are tropical vacation ready apply a top coat to seal in your design and help it last though your vacation.

Here is the practice version of the design.

Hope all of you enjoyed the sand meets the sea nail design.

See you next time for more nail fun.

Holo Taco Vacation Collection Review

Hello everyone! Happy summer, well almost summer (if you are going by the calendar.) Today on the blog we will be taking a look at one of the latest collections from Holo Taco, the vacation collection. This collection I was very excited about, I love anything tropical/ vacation themed, and any bright colored polishes.

Holo Taco Vacation Collection

As with most Holo Taco collection there is a limited edition collection box, let's take a close look at the the collection box.

Here is the back of the box.

Here is the inside of the collection box. This collection has five polishes like most of the collection, this collection is a little different there is an assortment of speciality finishes. Usually Holo Taco's collections have one type of finish though out the collection.

Some of the finishes that are in this collection is holographic glitter, reflective glitter, jelly, mutichrome finishes, and iridescent flakes.

All of the polishes in the small boxes that they always come in. Also all of these polishes do have a medium wide flat brush with them, not the thin brush that most of the Holo Taco polishes have.

Now that we are finished taking a look at the beautiful box, let's take a closer look at each polish.

Holo Taco- Private Villa

First we have Private Villa this polish is described as a pink- red jelly polish with gold holographic shimmer, and pink reflective glitters.

This polish for me it looked more pink then red, and the reflective glitter is very subtle compare to the KBshimmer polishes that I reviewed not to long ago.

Private Villa applied well for me in two coats.

With reflective polish if you take your cell phone flash light and hold it up to the nails you are suppose to be able to see the reflective glitter. In the photo above I did so along with still having my photograph light, and I just had trouble capturing it/ even seeing it.

In my kitchen with no flash light just the light from above, I was actually able to capture the reflective glitter on my cell phone. I just had trouble with my SLR camera.

Next we have Late Checkout this is described as a purple- indigo jelly polish, with gold reflective glitters.

This polish applied okay in two coats, it does have a textured look to it, and the top coat the CND  super shinny is more on the thin side that I use, so if you don't like the look of that it is best to use a thicker top coat with this one. I have seen some reviews of this collection and some people did say that this polish is on the thick side, for me it seem fine, not to thick.

Holo Taco- Late Checkout

Just like Private Villa the reflective glitter is very subtle and hard to see. In the photo above I took it the same way and it is still hard to see.

Once again I was able to capture the reflective glitter in my kitchen with my cell phone. Also I did notice that early in the morning when going to work, when the sun is just coming up you can see the reflective glitter a little better on the nails.

Holo Taco- Never Tide Down

Never Tide Down is described as a turquoise, ocean colored jelly polish, with iridescent flakes, and holographic glitter.

This polish applied well for me in two coats.

Holo Taco- Never Tide Down

This polish doesn't have any reflective glitter in it, this one is so pretty and really does look ocean like.

Holo Taco- Beach Please

Holo Taco- Beach Please

Holo Taco- Beach Please

Beach Please is described as a sand colored jelly polish with holographic glitters, and gold reflective glitters in it. This does look like sand that you would see on a tropical vacation.

This polish applied okay in three coats. This is a lighter colored polish and it expected to apply better in three coats. This polish was also a little on the thick side, most likely because of all the glitter and to give it that sand look.

Once again I could not get the reflective glitter to show in the photos that I took, I even tried the flash on my SLR camera.

Holo Taco- Beach Please

Once again I took a photo with my cell phone camera in the kitchen and this time the reflective glitter was still very subtle.

Holo Taco- Tax Haven

Lastly we have Tax Haven this is described as a mutichrome polish that shifts from brown to copper, with scattered holo glitters.

This polish applied well in two coats.

Holo Taco Cristine's inspiration for each polish.

In conclusion I love the theming of this collection the tropical vacation theme is great and I personally think that the polishes do go wells and I also really love the collection box as well. Knowing Cristine's thought process did help to see that.

Some of the polishes were a little thick and I wish the reflective glitter was not as subtle, I  did still enjoyed this collection. I do also like that Cristine went with different formula for this collection. Also of course Never Tided Down was my favorite I love this ocean blue polish, and of course I have a few idea for tropical designs with this collection.

As of typing this post the collection box is still available:

Hope all of you enjoy this Holo Taco Vacation Collection!

See you next time for more tropical nail fun!
