Hello Kitty- Nail Design

Hello everyone! Today we will be creating a Hello Kitty design, I have created a Hello Kitty design before, but I just felt like creating another one for all of you Hello Kitty fans out their that also love nails too. Growing up I was a big Hello Kitty fan, I do still like Hello Kitty that is why I decided it would be fun to create another Hello Kitty design, that has some spring colors. 

 

Hello Kitty Nail Design

Here are the nail polishes and nail art tools used for the cute Hello Kitty nail design:

 

Base and Top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Nail polishes- Finger paints- Tiffany imposter, OPI- Hello Kitty- Look at My Bow!, OPI- Hello Kitty- Starry- Eyed for Dear Daniel, and Cupcake Polish- Some Berry to Love.

Acrylic paint- White, black, red, a very small amount of green and yellow.

Nail art tools- Thin detail and linear brush (I always seem to use the same brushes over and over again!), and chevron nail decals.

Other- Some twisters to take of the chevron decals, and a small cup of water and a small glass cup with acetone in it to clean off your nail art brushes. 

Let's start this super cute Hello Kitty nail design!

Hello Kitty Nail Design

Start off with a thin layer of base coat, and let that dry.

Then polish your ring, middle and index nail with a light pink polish (I used OPI- Look at My Bow! from the Hello Kitty collection), then your pinky nail with a glittery pink polish (I used OPI- Starry- Eyed for Dear Daniel also from the Hello Kitty collection), lastly polish your thumb nail with a light blue polish (I used Finger paints- Tiffany imposter.)

Once all of your base colored polishes have dried on to the nail art. 

*With all of my nail designs I do a lot of back and forth, I let one part of the design dry and then go on to the other part.*

Hello Kitty's Red Bow

First we will start off with Hello Kitty's bow. Take your thin linear brush with red acrylic paint and make a small circle in the middle of the nail, and then make two curved lines on the top and bottom of the circle on both sides, then connect both lines with a lager curved line to connect the bow together. Also you may need to go over the red a few time to make it fully opaque. 

Once the red part of the bow has dried with a thin detail brush with black paint on it you can carefully outline the bow, also do not forget to put two curved lines in the center of the bow.

Red Tulip  

Next we will make a small, simple tulip on the index nail. Take your detail brush with some red paint on it make a curved line and then three point at the top, then fill that in for your flower. Then with that same clean brush, now with green paint on it make a green line going down and then two small lines from the sides. 

Chevron 

For this part of the design we will be using chevron decals. I had tried a while back to do this freehand but it just was not turning out, so it is best to use decals. Take your chevron decal off of the paper, place them on the nail (I used two because the decals I have where a little to thin), then take a pink holo polish (I used Cupcake Polish- Some Berry to Love) and cover the whole nail with the polish, now before the polish dries take some twisters and pull the decals off. It is important not to let the polish dry, other wise the decals will be hard to remove. 

For the pink finger nail we will just leave that with the pinky glitter and no design on that nail.

Last but not least is Hello Kitty herself. Take your linear brush with white paint on it and make a large egg shape, fill that in, you may need to go over this a few times to be fully opaque. Also make two ears on top of her head and fill that in as well. 

Let that part dry and then on to the facial features. Make two black oval shapes for the eyes and a small yellow oval for the noes, and then make three lines on each side of the face for her whiskers. 

Lastly is her red bow, do the same as the large bow that we made on the the ring finger nail just smaller with no outline.

Once you have your Hello Kitty design the way you like, apply a top coat to seal in your design and to help it last.

Meow! Kitty Nail Design

Hello everyone! Today we will be creating a cute kitty design, a kitty that will be playing with a ball of yarn. I really like cute animals from puppies, kitties, pandas, koalas, etc. So I thought it would be fun to make a cute kitty design with all of you. Maybe some of you also share the same love of animals as nail polish, so why not combine the two.

 

 Meow Kitty Cat Design 

Here are the polish and tools used for this kitty design:

 

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Polishes- OPI- Hello Kitty- Look at My Bow!, Sally Hansen- Hard as Nails - No hard feelings (optional color, that I used on my other hand), Sally Hansen- Hard as Nails- Black Heart, and OPI mini- Hawaii- Lost my bikini in Molokini. 

Acrylic paint- black and white

Nail art tools-  two thin detail brushes (one for paint, one for polish), extra large, large and regular size dotting tools.

Other- glass jar with polish remover to clean brushes, and a cup of water to clean off brushes with paint on them.

CND Stickey base coat

Start off with a thin layer of base coat.

 

Kitty on the thumb nail

Kitty head on the thumb nail- 

Once you base coat has dried, we will start off with the kitty on the thumb nail. For this I found it is a little bit easier to draw the outline of the kitty's head with paint first then filling it in.

First with a thin detail brush draw a circle shape, then fill that in. Then make two triangles shapes for her ears. For the kitty's head I did go over it with a black nail polish to make sure the paint does not rub off. Even with top coat over the paint sometimes I find that the paint rubs off near the tip of the nail, that why I put polish over the paint.

On the side you can make a line that curves for her tail, or just have her head showing.

Once kitty's head has dried, you can add her face. With a large dotting tool with white polish make her eyes, then with a thin detail brush with white paint on it draw her nose, mouth and whiskers. For the nose you can go over that with a pink polish, for the eyes take a smaller dotting tool and put a black dot in the middle.

For an add touch you can add a paw print in the corner. With a large dotting tool make two dots that overlap and a small dot on top of those two dots, then make three dots on top for her paw.

Ball of yarn on ring and middle finger nail-

For the rest of this design it will all connect together to have the kitty playing with a ball of yarn.  

On the ring finger nail start off by painting a small ball with white paint and make sure a small piece of string is sticking out of the ball.

On the middle finger nail paint a line with a loop in it for the string.

* For the next step you will need to let the paint dry, you can go to the kitty on the ring finger nail as that dries.

Once your outline for the ball of string has dried, take a purple polish and go over that white line. Then for the ball make a few lines that cross each other.  

Kitty on ring finger nail- 

On the ring finger nail we will make a kitty that is grabbing for the string. With a thin detail brush make a circle for the bottom of her body, then another circle for her head, fill in each part with that black paint. 

For her ears make two triangles on the top of her head, then fill those in. On the side of the kitties face make three lines on each for her whiskers. 

To finish the kitty make one paw that will be grabbing for the string that is on the middle finger nail. Then make a line on the other lower side for her tail, this will extend to the pinky finger nail.

For the last part of this design we will make the tail and a paw print on the pinky nail.

Take a thin detail brush with black paint on it and make a thick black line for the kitties tail, try to make it line up with the kitty on the ring finger nail.

Then in the corner make a small paw print. Just like before, with a large dotting tool make two dots overlapping each other and a small dot on top of those two dots, then make three dots on top for her paw.

Once your cute kitty design has dried apply a top coat to seal and protect your design.

Don't really care for Pink? Here is another option, purple as the background color. I used a purple polish on my right hand and a pink polish on my left hand. For the kitty on the thumb nail I kept it simple by not adding facial features, and the string I used a pink polish. 

As always you can use what ever colors you would like, you can even change the color of the cat. These are just the two options that I created on my nails.

Teddy Love- Valentines

Hello everyone! Happy Valentine's Day or day of love! Today we will be creating a cute teddy bear and hearts Valentine's nail design, the bear we will be creating is not just any bear, if you grew up in the 90's you may remember a certain stuffed toy that was very popular, the TY Beanie Babies. Their is a Valentines bear named Valentino that is and all way will my favorite of the Beanie Babies, due to it being sentimental. So I thought what better way to celebrate V-day then with Valentino teddy bear nails.

The nail polish and tools used for design will be right next to the images as we go.  

The skill level for this Valentines nail design is:

Intermediate

This design has both some what simple and hard parts to it. Creating the bow, and writing love on the nails can be a little tricky, you just have to be careful. The heart for the most part is simple, even creating Valentino can be easy, depending on your skill level.

Let's start this cute teddy bear, Valentines nail design!

Base coat - Nicole OPI-  3in1- base, top, & strengthener

1. Apply a base coat to protect your nails. 

2. Once your base coat has dried paint your index, middle, and pinky a light pink (
OPI- Hello Kitty- Look at My Bow!), your ring finger a glitter pink (OPI- Hello Kitty- Starry- Eyed for Dear Daniel) and then for your thumb paint the bottom half a white (China glaze- white on white) and make sure it is curved this is your bears head, then the top half paint this the same light pink as the other nails.

Just to let all of you know, I just recently bought the 5 pcs Winstonia nail art brush set on Amazon, so far I really like them, I got this set because I need some more really small brushes for nail art. If you are interested here is the link:

Finger paints- Cubism Crimson, W2 liner brush

3. Once your base colors have dried, we will first be creating a heart on the index finger nail.

Take your thin nail art brush with red polish on it and make the outline of the heart, then fill that in.

4. Next we will make Valentino's bow that is around his neck on the middle finger nail. I first stared off making the outline with red acrylic paint, then later went over that with red polish. To make your bow take your striping brush with red paint on it and make a small dot, then two loops on each side.

 

 5. Then make two lines going down from the loops you made, and now your outline is done.

6. This is the little bit tricky part of writing love on your pinky nail. You can write in cursive or print it is up to you. I chose cursive on my left hand and print on my right hand. To write love take your stripping brush with white paint on it, staring with L near the cuticle then finishing with E at the tips of the nails.

7. Next we will be making the bears himself Valentino on our thumb nail . With your white polish swipe a curve on each side for his ears and fill that in. Then for his eyes with a large doting tool with black polish on it, make two dots for his eyes.

 

 Blue, red, and yellow acrylic paint to make brown. 

8. Now that we have his eyes we will create that chocolate looking nose. For this we need a brown, unless you already have brown paint. If not take a little blue, red, yellow and mix that together to make a brown. Then take your liner brush with brown on it, make an oval shape then fill that in. Now you have a cute Valentino on your thumb nail.

 Revlon- top speed- Hearts of gold fx

For an added touch on the glitter accent nail, you can add a glitter heart polish to it. You do have to fish the heart out to get them, that why I just have three hearts on the nail. Plus these glitter do not like to stay on the nails, they don't seem to like to lay flat on the nail, but I put them on anyways for an added touch.

Once your design has dried apply a top coat to protect and seal in your nails. As always I used Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Hello Hello Kitty- Nail Art Tutorial

Hello again everyone! Hope all of you enjoyed the OPI Hello Kitty review! If you didn't check out that review yet you can check it out after this tutorial.

The nail polish and tools used for this Hello Kitty design will be right next to the images as we go. For this design we will be using two of the polishes from the OPI Hello Kitty collection, along with some other polishes.

The skill level for this Hello Kitty design is:

Beginner to Intermediate 

This design for the most part is simple with basic dots and flowers created with dots. The only part that is more intermediate is Hello Kitty and the bow, due to the outlining this can make the design a little bit harder. 

Let's start this Hello Kitty design!

 Zoya Naked Manicure Base coat

1. Start off with a base coat. I tried the Zoya Naked Base coat, as stated in other post I am unsure if you really are suppose to use this with colored polish, but why not give it a try.

 

 

 Polishes used: China glaze- white on white, OPI- Hello Kitty- Look at My Bow!, 

and OPI- Hello Kitty- Starry- Eyed for Dear Daniel.

2. Once your base coat has dried paint your thumb white, your index, middle, and pinky nail with Look at my Bow!, and the ring finger nail with Starry- Eyed for Dear Daniel (this nail will be an accent nail and just stay as is.)

 

3. We will first start off with the easy part, dots on the pinky nail. Take your large dotting tool dipped into Starry- Eyed for Dear Daniel and dot random dots on the nail. 

Dots: China glaze- white on white

4. Next we will be creating three simple flowers on the middle finger nail. Once again take your extra large dotting tool dipped into white polish and make three dots on the nail.

5. Then take your large dotting tool dipped into Starry- Eyed for Dear Daniel and make one dot at the top of the white dot, two dots on the side, and two on the bottom, to make a flower. Repeat this as many times as you would like.

6. After we have finished the flowers, on the index nail we will create Hello Kitty's bow that she wears. Take your thin nail art brush dipped into red nail polish or red acrylic paint and make a circle in the middle of the nail, then two bow shapes on the sides.

7. As we let the bow dry we will start on Hello Kitty herself on the thumb nail. First we will make her eyes, take your clean thin nail art brush dipped into black and make two small dots to know where to start her eyes, then make two black ovals. Now for her nose, take your small nail art brush dipped into yellow nail polish or paint and make a yellow oval under the eyes.

    

8. After we finish her cute nose we will make her whiskers. Once again take your clean thin nail brush dipped into black acrylic paint and make three lines on each side of her face.

 

9. To finish Hello Kitty we will make her bow, just  a smaller version of the larger bow that we did on the index nail. Just like before take your thin nail dipped into red polish or paint, and make a circle in the middle of the nail, then two bow shapes on the sides.

10. For the final details we will outline the two bows. Take your thin clean nail art brush dipped into black acrylic paint and carefully outline the two bows, then make to ovals on the sides of the bow.  

Once your cute Hello Kitty design has dried apply a top coat to seal in your design and protect your design as well. As always I used Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Hello Hello Kitty- OPI Review

Hello everyone! Today on the M.M.M blog we have a two for one, a review and tutorial! If keep up to date with all the new nail polish collections out there, then you know that OPI just recently released a new collection, the Hello Kitty collection. If you are anything like me then this collection made you feel excited, just because it is Hello Kitty.

First off we will start with a mini review. As you can see I didn't buy the whole collection just the duo box set with two of the polishes. This collection has 12 polishes with one special edition polish. As you may have guessed this collection has a lot of pinks in it, along with a few other colors such as yellow, blue, and a black. I personally felt like this collection didn't have very many unique looking colors, many of the colors can be found in other collections or brands. That is why I decided to get the duo set, with one of the polishes Starry Eyed For Dear Daniel (the glitter pink) seem like it was one of the most unique, and maybe one other.

As for the two polishes in the set, here is the first one.

 

Look at My Bow! is described as a sweet- girl pink, or a light bubble gum pink. This is a creme polish that was opaque for me in three coats. This polish went on a little streaky for me, it may have been because I used the Zoya Naked Base coat. Other wise this might have gone on fine in two coats.

   

Next is Starry- Eyed For Dear Daniel is described as a pink super glitter. This is a pink miro- glitter polish that was opaque in three coats, it was a little shear on the first coat but easily bulidable. This was one of the few colors that I thought was unique, along with the color Charmmy & Sugar (another glitter) which I didn't purchase.  

This Duo also came with a cute coin purse (show in the photo above) it is very small but cute. I just use it to hold tissue paper, not coins.

Over all this collection is kind of meh, due to the lack of uniqueness of colors. The main reason why I was excited about this collection was the nostalgic feeling it gave me with Hello Kitty. I have liked Hello Kitty for a long time, ever since I was little and thought that would be a cool collection.
