Pumpkin Everything- Pumpkin Nail Design

Hello everyone! For today I don't know if I am a little bit late for this design, but I thought it would still be fun to create a pumpkin nail design, it is still technically fall even though it feels like winter outside. 

 

Pumpkin Nail Design

Here are the nail polishes and nail tools that you will need to create this pumpkin design:

 

Base and top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat. (The same top an base that I always use.)

Polishes- OPI Lisbon- Now Museum Now You Don't and Zoya- Urban Grunge- Troy. 

Acrylic paint- black, red, and yellow (red and yellow to make orange) 

Nail art brushes- thin linear brush and a thin stripper brush.

Small glass jar with acetone in it to clean off your nail art brushes.  

It's pumpkin everything season, or is it, or maybe I missed out?

As always start off on a nice clean nails with no polish on them and apply a thin layer of base coat to protect your nails. 

Let that dry.

Once your base coat has dried, polish your thumb, middle and ring finger nails a gunmetal grey (I used Zoya- Troy), then polish your index and pinky nail a red orange color (I used 
OPI- Now Museum Now You Don't.) 

For this design I decided to go with more darker colors for the background/ base colors, well the gunmetal polish color, and a fall red orange, that was weirdly in the OPI summer collection even though I feel like that color was a fall color. 

Let that dry. 

Pumpkin Nail Design

Now on to the nail art, we will be making pumpkins on the thumb, index and ring finger nails (all of the nails that we polish with the gunmetal colored polish.) 

For the pumpkins on the middle and index nail we will just be making one pumpkin. Take your linear brush dipped into orange paint and make a large oval shape for the pumpkins (I made one near the tip of the nail and the other more in the middle of the nail), then fill in the oval shape with orange, I ended up having to go over the pumpkin shape three times to be opaque. 

Once that is dry take your stripping brush with black paint on it and careful outline the oval shape of the pumpkin and then make four large curved lines for the ring finger nail pumpkin. For the middle finger nail pumpkin make three small curved lines at the top and then four small curved lines at the bottom.

Now on the the vines and steam, take your thin linear brush with green paint on it and make a steam on the top of the pumpkin. Then with that same stripper brush with green paint on it, make some curved going from the top of the pumpkin and some on the pumpkin.

For the thumb nail we will be make two pumpkins, you can just repeat the same steps as the other nails just over lap the two pumpkins, the pumpkin in the back will be kind of hiding behind the other pumpkin.

Once your pumpkin nails are just right apply a top coat to seal in your design and help it to last.

Boo- Halloween Nail Design

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Halloween! Sorry that this post didn't go up in time for Halloween, it's a day late. I didn't have time to do a blog post on this design before Halloween, but I still wanted to do a tutorial for all of you. For this Halloween design, we will be making a ghost with a pumpkin on our thumb, a spooky scene on the middle finger nail and then a spider web on the ring finger nail.

Here are the spooky nail polishes and nail art tools that we will use:

 

Base and Top coat- CND Stickey Base Coat and Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Polishes- Zoya- Urban Grunge- Troy, Glam Polish Experiment 626- No more caffeine for you, and Glam Polish Experiment 626- Evil Genius.   

Acrylic Paint- White, black, yellow, red, and a very small amount of green.

Nail art brushes- thin detail brush, thin liner brush and a very small thin detail brush.

Other- small jar or cup with water in it to clean off nail art brushes.

Let's begin this spooky/ cute nail design!

 

  Halloween Nail Design 

Start off with a thin layer of base coat to protect your nails. 

Once your base coat has dried on your thumb, middle, and ring finger nail polishes those nails with a pewter/ blacken grey with silver shimmer in it (I used Zoya- Troy.) Then for your index nail, polish that with a bright lime green (I used Glam Polish- No more caffeine for you) and then on your pinky finger nail, polish that with a dark purple (I used Glam Polish- Evil Genius.) 

For this design I wanted to incorporate two of the colors from the Glam Polish Experiment 626 (Lilo and Stitch collection) the bright lime green and the dark purple. I just thought those two colors where fitting for Halloween.     

Spider web on ring finger nail- 

Now that your base colors have dried we will start our design, first we will start off with the spider web on the ring finger nail. Take your thin liner brush with white paint on it and make three lines, starting near the middle and a little off to the side near the cuticle. Then starting near the cuticle start to make a few small curved lines, I made four small curved lines. Then go down the nail, repeating this same steps. I did not fill up the whole nail, but you can if you would like.

Spooky scene on middle finger nail-  

Next we will make the spooky scene on the middle finger nail. Take you thin liner brush with white paint on it and make a circle in the middle of the nail for the moon. I only went over this one time to make it look a little sheer, I thought it would look better not being an opaque white. 

Once your moon has dried we can make the tree, take your thin detail brush with black paint on it and make a long branch covering the moon, and then make a lot of smaller branches coming from the big branch, and then very small branches from those.

Now to add two small bats, with that small detail brush with a grey paint, make a straight line, then two curved lines then two very small lines on the curved lines, then you have your very small bats.

Ghost and Pumpkin on the thumb nail- 

Last but not least is the ghost and pumpkin on the thumb nail. First we will make the circle for the pumpkin using white paint that way the orange will show up. Also if you don't have orange paint, mix yellow and red paint to make the orange. After your white circle has dried fill that in with orange, you will have to go over this a few times to be opaque. 

As we let that dry on to the ghost, with a small detail brush with white paint on it make   

two lines staring from the the pumpkin and the go up and making a curved line, then fill that in, this is for the head. (hopefully that makes sense?) Then make two arms one holding the pumpkin and one up in the air, like he is waving. After that make two feet like shapes on each side of the pumpkin. Also once again your ghost does not have to be an opaque white, it is okay to look a little sheer. Once your ghost body had dried we will make a face, with a small brush just dot two small dots for his eyes and then make a smile with two lines on the sides.   

Back to the pumpkin, make three triangles two for his eyes and one for the nose, then make a curved line for his mouth. You will need to go over this a few times with the yellow that way it is opaque. Then finally to finish our pumpkin and ghost add a small green line at the top of the pumpkin for the steam.

Once you have your Halloween nail design the way you like apply a top coat to seal in your design and to help it last throughout all of your tricks and treats.

Zoya Urban Grunge Fall Winter 2016

Hello everyone! Today on the M.M.M blog we will be reviewing some new polishes from Zoya, the Urban Grunge collection for Fall and Winter 2016. These polishes have been out for a while now, but I just recently decided to order them from Zoya.com. I have been eyeing these beauties for a while, due to the collection have holographic polish in them, that automatically garbed my attention.

This collection has Holographic and Metallic polishes in it along with cream polishes as well (which I did not purchase). When it comes to swatching polishes, I do it different then most bloggers. I like to wear my polish for a week, not just long enough to swatch and take a photo. So for the six polishes in the collection I put all of the colors on my nails, that way I can wear them all at once. 

First we will start off with the holographic polishes, their are three holographic polishes in this collection. All of these holographic polishes are scattered holos. 

 

 Zoya Alicia 

First let's start off with Alicia, this is a silver holo with a touch of gold in it. According to the website this is a linear holo, which I don't see, to me this looks like a scattered holo.

The polish had a smooth application that applied for me in three thin coats. This polish was kind of sheer, but in three coats built up nicely.

 Zoya Merida

Merida is a dark green/ evergreen scattered holo, this polish is a great Christmas tree green. This also had a smooth application, that cover for me in three thin coats. This polish you can probably get away with two coats, but I thought I would do three to make sure it was opaque enough.

Zoya Finley

Finley is a deep/ dark purple scattered holo. Purple is one of my favorite colors (along with blue) so I was really excited about this polish. This polish once again had a smooth application (this is a running theme), that cover the nail in three thin coats, you could also probably get away with two with this polish as well.

    Zoya Urban Grunge Holographic Polishes

Final thoughts on the Holographic polishes, as all of you may have guessed I love them! They are all so beautiful, applied really well, and just look amazing in sunlight. I would say my favorite would be Finley the purple, then Alicia the silver, Merida I really like a lot to which I was surprised, I don't usually care for green, but this polish looks amazing! For all of these polishes I would highly recommend purchasing these.

Next we have the metallic polishes from the collection.

 

 Zoya Ash

Ash is described as a cherry red with gold metallic shimmer. The color of this polish seems to look different to me depending on the lighting, sometimes it looks red, sometime more of a burgundy. On the website and other people that have swatched this polish, it looks more red. So this polish is a little weird to me because of that. Ash applied smooth and covered in two thin coats.

   Zoya Troy

Troy is described as a pewter with a touch of black and gold, with a foil finish. I would say this polish looks like a gunmetal gray with some sliver a black shimmer in it. Troy applied very smooth in two thin coats.

  Zoya Britta 

Britta is described as a berry red and purple fuchsia. I would say this polish looks like berry purple or even burgundy too. In certain light Ash a Britta look like the same color polish or very close in color, at lest to me. This polish once again applied very smooth in two thin coats.

   Zoya Urban Grunge Metallic Polishes 

Final thought on the metallic polishes, I also really liked these as well. I would defiantly say that the holos in this collection where my favorite, but these where very beautiful as well. I did kind of have a hard time capture the metallic (the most) when I was trying to take photos, they wanted to be very reflective and kept on showing up blurry, but I think I final got the photos to look good. Hopefully I was able to show the true of these polishes. 

As for the Urban Grange polish collection as a whole. I would highly recommend these polishes both the holos and the metallic are very beautiful and applied very well. As I have said other times that I have purchased Zoya polishes, I love all of their polish and will continue to purchase them, I would go for a Zoya polish over OPI any day.    

These polishes would make a great gift for any polish lover (or your self) that love shimmer/ shinny polish, and who wouldn't?

I know this collection is kind of pricey, Zoya also went up on their prices of polish I think over a year ago. But as always be on the look out for deal on their website, or sign up for their emails would be the best.
