Batman vs. Superman

Hello everyone! Today we will be creating a design to celebrate the highly anticipated movie that came out March 25, 2016 (sorry I am a little late) Batman vs. Superman. I am not really a superhero fan, but I thought this would be fun to create, and for all of you that are fans of nerdy nails this will be great for all of you as well.

Batman vs. Superman design

All the nail polish and tools used for this design will be right next to the images as we go.

The skill level for this Batman vs. Superman design is:

 Intermediate to advanced

This design has some parts to it that are hard to create, mainly the Batman/ Superman logo is the part that would make this design more advanced. The other parts like the cityscape and the strip design for Batman and Superman for the most part are simple to create.

Let's see who will win Batman or Superman, or let's just start this Batman vs. Superman design!

 Base coat used- CND Sticky

1. Start off with a thin layer of base coat to protect your nails from the dark justice or just dark polish.

Polishes used- Sally Hansen- Triple Shine- Bait Me and Lemon Shark,
and Sinful Color- Midnight blue.

2. Then once your base coat has dried paint your thumb a light grey, your ring finger nail yellow, and your pinky nail a dark blue, and your index and middle finger nail leave those with just your base coat on for now.

Small piece of makeup sponge and Revlon- Rebel graffiti for the pinky nail.

3. Next we will be creating a cityscape on our ring finger nail. For this we will need a small piece of makeup sponge to make a gradient for the sky (well kind of gradient). Once you have cut a small piece of sponge, paint some of the blue polish that you used for the pinky nail on the sponge, then pat some of the polish near the cuticle going half way down the nail.

4. For the ring finger you can just used a black and white glitter polish over the blue.

Black acrylic paint and a small flat brush

5. After we have finished the color for the sky we need to add some buildings. Take a small flat brush with black paint on it and swipe two tall lines on the side, and a shorter one in the middle for the buildings.

yellow acrylic paint and a small detail brush

6. Once we have the shape of the buildings we need to add some small windows. Take your small thin detail brush with yellow paint on it, and just dab small dots along the buildings for the windows.

 white acrylic paint

7. After that we will create a small moon in the corner of our nail. First we will take our small detail brush with white paint on it and make a small circle in the corner of our nail for the moon. Once the white has dried paint over the moon with yellow paint.

Polish used- Sinful Color-Let's Meet

8. Next we will be making a simple strip design using Batman and Superman's color schemes on the index and middle finger nail. For both nail we will take a yellow polish (I used a different yellow for this because the brush was to wide on the other yellow polish I used for the other nail.)Swipe the brush at an angle to make a strip.

  Polishes used-
Sinful Color- Midnight blue and Let's Meet, Finger paints- Cubism Crimson, China glaze- white on white, Sally Hansen- Hard as Nails- Black Heart, and Kiss nail art stripper- Black (for later)

9. Once that yellow had dried we will add the other colors. On the index nail we will be doing Superman's colors, on the middle finger nail we be doing Batman's colors. With the brushes that is in the bottle just swipe the colors for each hero on the nails. You can refer to the photo above to see which colors go where.

Red acrylic paint and a small thin detail brush

10. Lastly we will be doing the more tricky part the Batman vs. Superman logo on the thumb nail. For the logo I did have a photo of it to look at as a reference. First we will start off with Superman's part, take your thin detail brush with red paint on it and make a diamond shape, then a S in the middle, you can go over the parts that need to be thicker a few time if needed.

11. After we have finished Superman's logo, we will be adding Batman's to the logo design. Once again take your clean detail brush with black paint, on it and start off with the bat ears at the top and go ahead and fill them in.

 Black acrylic paint

12. Then after you have the ears, make the outline of the two wings on the sides with that same brush. After that you can fill in the wings with black paint, if your wings do not match up you can always make them thicker to match. Also don't forget to fill in the Superman logo with some black as well.

 Batman vs. Superman final design

For a final touch on your index and middle finger nail, you can take a black stripping polish and add an outline on the yellow strip.

As always when your nail design has dried apply a top coat to seal in your design and protect it from the evil guys or just chipping. I used Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat.

Hope all of you enjoyed this Batman vs. Superman nail design!

See you next time for more nail fun!
