Aloha Spring! OPI Hawaii Collection Review

Hello, and Aloha everyone! Who is ready for Spring? I know I am, and for this week I have a new nail polish collection that is great for Spring and Summer. You may have guessed from the Aloha that this collection is Hawaii themed and you are right, I will be reviewing the new Spring 2015 OPI Hawaii collection (well some of the collection.)

OPI Hawaii Collection, 2015 Spring collection

 OPI Hawaii collection
Mini box set: Suzi Shops & Island Hops,That's Hula-rious,
Lost My Bikini in Molokini, and Aloha from OPI.
Large bottle: Go with the Lava Flow.

This is a collection I have been super excited about, I mean a little bit about the colors (you know here at M.M.M we love bright colors!) but mainly for the name Hawaii. If you have been checking out my blog for a while I have done a few Hawaiian themed nail designs, I have also mentioned how much I love Hawaii. I went there back in 2004 with my family (Ohana) and fell in the love with the place, Hawaii is so beautiful and I definitely recommend going there sometime in your life.

Anyways this collection has 12 colors in the collection with cremes and shimmers. I did not purchase the whole collection just the Mini's and one large polish.

Here is a photo of the four nail polishes in the Mini's

The back with a description of the colors and ingredients

The Mini's are a great way to preview the collection with out have to buy a large bottle and maybe not like the colors. Unfortunately their are only four polishes available in the mini's. It would have been nice for a different option, if you didn't want to buy the full size bottle, to have the whole collection in mini's, even if OPI had three boxes with a set of four in each box.

As for the colors in this collection, they are not really that unique. Their are a few colors that you could probably find in other polish collections. As stated above I did not purchase the whole collection of 12 polishes, so I can't review those colors. But the ones I did buy where nice.

OPI Hawaii collection on the nails

Starting off with the minis and then the large bottle, from the pinky nail to the thumb nail.

Pinky finger nail: Suzi Shops & Island Hops is a light bubble gum pink creme, the formula was okay it did go on kind of streaky or showed brush strokes. I am unsure if this was just because I had a mini version of this, the minis can be a little bit hard to work with because the bottles are so small. It took three coats to be opaque and not streaky.

As you can see the minis have a small hole that can make it a little had to work
with when taking your brush in and out when painting your nails.
That's why If you really like a color I suggest buying a full size.

Ring finger nail: Aloha from OPI is a bright and pretty creme-coral color. The formula was good on this one not streaky and only took two coats to be opaque. This was one of my favorites.

Middle finger nail: That's Hula-rious is a  mint green creme, the formula with this one was just like Suzi Shops & Island Hops as it was streaky. But was fixable with three coats.

Index finger nail: Lost My Bikini in Molokini is a bright purple creme. The formula was good on this one as well, it only two coats to be opaque. The only thing with this purple is the smell, I mean all nail polishes smell bad but this one wow! it almost smelled like a sunk to me. I don't know if other people have had the same issue or if it was just the bottle I got. The other bottles where okay and just smelled like regular nail polish.

Thumb finger nail, Large bottle: Go with the Lava Flow is pink/ reddish shimmer with yellow or gold like dust in it. This color is amazing! It went on great in two coats. When I was looking at this collection online and in stores, this one caught my eye and I knew I would like this color, that is why I bought this one in a large bottle. This colors also looks amazing/ the best in sunlight you can really see all the colors in the polish.

In conclusion this collection has a lot of really pretty bright colors that are great for Spring and Summer, and remind me of Hawaii. They are just not the most unique colors out there and their are some hit and misses. With the colors I bought my favorites where of course Go with the Lava flow and Aloha from OPI. The colors I did not care for was Suzi Shops & Island Hops,That's Hula-rious due to the formula but the colors where pretty. Lastly Lost My Bikini in Molokini was okay the color was pretty, I just could not get over the smell.

If you would like to see the rest of the OPI Hawaii collection check out:
OPI.com

OPI is a more pricier brand a regular size bottle from the OPI Hawaii collection is $9.50.
The mini set of four polishes cost $13.95.

I bought these polishes from Ulta with a $3.50 off coupon, so the regular polish was $8.08 and the mini set was $11.87. Even thought it was only $3.50 off the polishes, it is still a good idea to get a Ulta coupon to save even just a little bit of money.

This polish is also available at Sally Beauty and anywhere OPI is sold.

Hope all of you enjoyed this review that I will do every so often.

Aloha! See you next time for my next design tutorial!
