Happy New year 2015

Hello everyone! Happy New Year 2015, well almost new year. This is the time when we try to reflect on what we did this year and how we can make next year even better. A lot of people make new years resolutions, some keep them and others do not. As for me, I have never really been one to make any new years resolutions, I just always hope for a better year.

For New Year's most nail designs have a dark/ black base color and add some glitter and a pop of color. For this tutorial I deiced to stick with that theme, with a black base and subtle bits of glitter, along with subtle bits of holographic polish.

New years nail design
Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!
Final 2014 design.

The polishes and nail tools used for this New years design:
Top coat and base coat - Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat, Nicole OPI-  3in1- base, top, & strengthener.

Nail polishes- Sally Hansen- Hard as Nails- black heart, Color Club-  Mini- Silver Glitter, Color Club Holo's- Harp on, Color Club- Holo's- Cloud Nine, Color Club- Holo's- Blue Heaven, Milani- Holographic Cyperspace, Nails Inc- Sapphire, and Nails Inc- Pink Diamond.

Nail art tools- Small glass jar with nail polish remover in it, to clean off nail art brushes, and a nail art stripper, I cleaned off and used the one that is in the nail art polishes.

The Skill level for this New Year's nail design is:

Beginner/ Basic

This New Year's design is very simple and great for people that might just be starting off with nail design, or just looking for something simple to create on their nails. This design is simple do to the fact that two of the fingers just being a glitter gradient, and the other consisting of very thin lines.
Now let's begin this party perfect nail design!

1. Start off with a thin layer of base coat.

2. Paint all of your nails a dark color, black or a dark blue.
3. First we will start off by doing a glitter gradient on the index and ring finger. Take your silver glitter polish and the brush that is in the polish, and paint a little bit of glitter, more at the top and a little at the bottom of the nail.
4. Then after you have just a little bit of glitter painted on the nail, paint a little more at the tips of the nail. This can also be done by sponging on glitter with a makeup sponge, but I just wanted to put a subtle amount of glitter, and when you sponge on the glitter it can end up going on a little bit thick.

5. For the other nails, the thumb, middle and pinky, we will be making a holographic line design. On each nail you paint thin lines starting from a comer of the nail, each nail I started from different corners to have a little bit of a different look for each nail. To make this design take a thin nail art stripper dipped in a blue holographic polish, or any color, start at a corner of the nail and slowly drag your nail art stripper down.
Here is the thumb nail design, where I stared from the side using a silver holographic polish.
6. For a final touch and a little bit more pop of color. Take a glitter polish that is the same color as the holographic polish and in the corner where all the lines met, dab a little bit of glitter polish.

As you can see in the final photo, on the thumb I used a silver holographic polish for the line design, then in the corner where all the lines met, I put a little bit of silver glitter polish. The middle finger I used a blue holographic (which is a little hard to tell that it is blue in the photo) and then put a little bit it of blue glitter on the corner. Lastly for the pinky nail I used a purple holographic polish, with purple glitter in the corner.

Right hand nail design, where I switched the colors around and for
the thumb used a different blue holographic polish.

As always once your nail design have dried finish it off with a top coat, to make sure it last though your New Year's celebration.

Hope all of you have a wonderful and safe New Year's and I look forward to sharing and creating more nail tutorials with all of you, in the up and coming New Year!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday's

Hello everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday's! It's that time of year for giving, and  receiving gifts and spending time with family and friends. So no matter what Holiday you celebrate, I think each holiday shares the same thing, that spending time with friends and family is the most important part.
This is also the time of year for bright and colorful nail polish, which at M.M.M, we love bright colors. I love bright colorful glitter polishes and just bright colors in general, which you can find a lot of this time of year.

For today's Christmas nail design, I wanted to keep it simple with all the Holiday activities and shopping going on, I thought it would be better to keep it simple, that way you are not spending half or all your day doing your nails.

Here is my fiance and I first Christmas tree in our first apartment. The final Christmas nail design.

Here are the nail polishes and nail tools used for this Christmas/ Holiday nail design:

Top coat and base coat- Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat, and Nicole OPI-  3in1- base, top, & strengthener.

Nail art polishes/ strippers- Kiss nail art- silver.

Nail polishes- Snowman rainbow glitter- frosty, NYC- big apple red creme, NYC- Broadway Burgundy Frost, Sinful Color- HD Nails, Revlon- Gold Coin, Loreal- textured polish, pop the bubbles, Loreal- textured polish, too dimensional, and Sinful Color-Let's Meet.

The Skill level for this Christmas/ Holiday nail design is:

 Beginner

This Christmas design is very simple. With a few nails have a very simple design with just glitter on the ring finger, a slanted green and gold design on the pinky nail, and a simple circle shape for the ornament. The only nails that might take a little more time and be a little tricky is the ribbon on the gift and may the tree a little bit.

This is a great design to try out before or after you finish your last minute Christmas shopping. Let's get this bright Christmas nail tutorial started!

1. Start off with a one thin coat of base coat, to help your manicure last longer and to prevent any possible staining.

2. First paint all of your nails a Christmas red. I first painted one coat of a solid red, then painted a red glitter polish over the red. The red glitter is very subtle and kind of hard to see in the photo above.

3. On the ring finger we are keeping it simple with just an accent nail with glitter. You can use the same glitter polish in the photo above, which is a rainbow glitter with big and small chunks of glitter or any kind of glitter you would like that would fit the Christmas theme.

Here is the glitter polish that I used for this design. I really wanted to
implement this cute snowman glitter polish some way into today's design.
I got this snowman polish from Meijer in the Christmas area for around $2.00.

4. Back to the nail tutorial. Next we will be rapping/ making a Christmas gift, by starting off with the ribbon. Take your silver nail art polish/ stripper and draw a vertical line in the middle of the nail.

5. Then draw a horizontal line in the middle of the line you just made.To make this a little bit easier, start at one corner then go to the middle lift up on the brush and repeat on the other side.

6. To finish your gift, we will make the bow. Draw two small line on the corners of the ribbon. Do this on both sides.

7. Then make a curved line at the top to connect the lines to make a bow. Then draw a line under the loops you just made, do this on the other side to finish your bow.

8. Now for the pretty glitter ornament that you find on your Christmas tree. Take your dotting tool or a nail art brush and dip it into a glitter texture polish, make a circle then fill that in. I thought a textured polish would go well for a Christmas ornament; there are ornaments that have the same feel and look as a textured polish.

9. Then we will make the hook that helps the ornament hang on the tree. Take your silver nail art polish/ stripper and make a small line at the top of the ornament then make a curve at the top.

10. Another really simple design we will be making is a slanted stripe design on the pinky nail, with Christmas colors. Take your green polish with the side part of the brush, swipe the polish to make a slanted line, you may need to go over this a few times to make it opaque, then do this again with a gold polish right under the green polish (not shown in the photo above.)

11. Now for the final design we will be creating the one decoration that you think of when you think of Christmas: the Christmas tree. Take your thin nail art brush, dipped in green polish and make a triangle at the top then make two curved lines on the sides, then draw more curved lines under that until you get to the bottom of the nail.

12. To make your tree thinner you can make more thinner curved lines. My tree ended up looking a little bit thicker. Once you have finished your tree we need to make a tree topper, a star. Take the small end of your dotting dipped in yellow polish; make a line down the middle, two on the side, and two on the bottom to make a star.

For some finishing touches, on the ribbon add a small bit of glitter, by taking a tooth pick and getting just a little bit of glitter and putting it in the middle of the bow. On the ornament take another textured polish color and with the side of the brush swipe a line in the middle, for an optional detail, take your silver nail art polish/ stripper and draw two lines one under and above the line you just made, this is to outline the strip.
Then for the tree it needs some ornaments, you can either make dots with your dotting tool or take the same glitter polish you used on your ring finger and paint it on the tree. The simplest way to do this is to take a thin nail art brush and follow the outline of the tree.

Once your Christmas/ Holiday nails has dried apply a topcoat. Now you have a perfect nail design for your Holiday get together.

Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

I look forward to creating more fun and bright nail tutorials for all of you in the upcoming new year.

See you next time for my next design tutorial!

Winter Wonderland

Hello everyone! It's that time of year again for the cold, snowy, winter weather. When I was
growing up, one of my favorite things to do when it snowed was playing in the snow and building a snowman, either by myself or with my mom and brother. But now that I have to drive in the snowy, nasty weather, which is not as much fun, and of course when you are younger you look forward to snow days, where you get to miss school, which was always nice.

For this week's design we will be creating a winter wonderland themed nail design, with a snowman, a penguin, and or course some snow.

A snowman decoration that I got a Target, The final Winter Wonderland design
on the left hand.

The polishes and nail art tools used for this Winter Wonderland design:

Top coat and base coat- Revlon Extra Life No Chip top coat, and Nicole OPI-  3in1- base, top, & strengthener.

Nail art polishes/ strippers- Kiss nail art- silver, and Kiss nail art- Black.

Nail polishes- Nicole by OPI- A Lit- Teal Bit of Love, Sally Hansen- xtreme wear- White on, Sally Hansen- Hard as Nails- black heart, NYC- Broadway Burgundy Frost, Sally Hansen- xterme wear- Sun kisses, Color Club Holo's- Harp on, and NYC- SoHo.

Nail art tools- small glass jar for nail polish remover to clean nail art brushes and dotting tool, dotting tool, and a small thin nail art brush/ stripper.

The skill level for this Winter wonderland design is:

 Beginners

For the most part this design is simple. The snowflakes and icicles are easy to create. The only part that might be a little hard is creating the snowman and penguin, but for the most part even creating the snowman and penguin are simple.

1. Start off with one thin coat of base coat.

2. Paint your thumb, index, and pinky a glitter blue (Love the polish Nicole by OPI- A Lit- Teal Bit of Love !), then paint your ring finger white, and for now, leave the middle finger nail blank.

3. Next we will be creating the winter theme, the icicles and snowflakes. On the index and pinky finger, create a silver french manicure with the silver nail art polish/ stripper. Do this by slowing dragging your nail art polish across the nail and then fill in that part.

4. Now we will create the snowflakes. Once again take your silver nail art polish, make a small X for the snowflake.

5. To finish your snowflakes draw two more lines, until you have a star like shape. Do this three times or until most of the nail has snowflakes on it, remember to leave a little bit of space for dots/ smaller snowflakes, this will be shown at the end.
Once you have the right amount of snowflakes, we will start the icicles. We already have part of it started with the french manicure part, now we just need to add the dripping ice, take your silver nail art polish and draw two lines on the side under the french manicure.

6. Then draw four different size lines or enough lines to go across the nail, while leaving a little bit of space in between each line/ icicle.

7. Next we will make a large snowflake on the thumb nail. Take your silver nail art polish and draw a vertical line on the side of the nail, then a line in the middle, and two slanted lines one at the top and one on the bottom.

8. To finish off your snowflake, draw arrow like lines on the three larger lines all the way down the larger lines.

9. Next we will make the cute snowman. Take your white nail polish and draw a curved line at the top and bottom, then fill in that part. Make sure to leave some space at the top and bottom of the snowman's head.

10. We will let the snowman's head dry, then we will work on the penguin. Take your black nail art polish and draw a curved line at the top, do this by following the curved line of the nail. Then draw two lines on the side and a curved line at the bottom, then fill in all of these areas.

11. Now for the eyes. Take your dotting tool dipped in black polish and dot two eyes. By accident I ended up making one of the eyes a different size, but it still looks okay.

12. Next is the beak. Once again take your clean dotting tool, the smaller end and dip it into orange polish, then make a upside down triangle shape.

13. To finish your penguin, we will make the surf. Take your thin nail art brush/ stripper and dip it into the same color blue that you used as the background for the snowflakes. Then slowly drag your nail art brush across the middle of the penguin and then make two lines near the end of the surf.
Next we will make the feet, you do this by taking the larger end of the dotting tool and dip it into orange polish. Place the dotting tool at the bottom of the penguin and drag up to make small feet, do this two times to make feet.

14. Back to the snowman, we will make the red hat now. Take the brush that is in the glitter red polish and make a rectangle like shape with a little bit of a curve at the top and bottom of the hat, also remember to leave a little bit of room at the top of his hat, for his puff ball.

15. Next is the snowman's smile. Take you black nail art polish/ stripper and slowly make a small curved line under the eyes.

16. After you have made his cute smile, we will make his carrot nose. Take the small end of the dotting tool dipped in orange, place it in the middle of his face and then drag the dotting tool a little bit for his carrot nose.

17. We are almost done with the cute snowman. For an extra touch we will make rosy cheeks. First clean off your dotting tool, then with the larger end dip it into pink polish and dot two dots on the side of his face.
Then once we have the cheeks done, we will add a puff ball to the top of his red hat. Once again clean of the larger end of your dotting tool, then dip it into white polish, then on the top of his hat make a few dots to form a puff ball, I think I did this about five or six times.

Winter wonderland design on the left hand

To finish your snowman, add a black line in the middle of his hat, by taking your black nail art polish/ stripper and slowly while routing your finger make a line. Then for a final touch, I was going to use the blue glitter polish as a background, but it end up looking like a surf, which end up working out. That is done by just using the brush that came with the polish and filling in the tip of the nail.
Also we don't want to forget about the small snowflakes that are next to the larger ones. This is done by taking a silver holographic or a glitter silver polish, with either the larger and small end of your dotting tool, dip it into the holographic or silver polish and make small and large dotting in the empty space around the large snowflakes, for small snowflakes.

Another photo of the design on the left hand

Once you are happy with the amount of small snowflakes that you added, let your design dry, and then apply a top coat.

Winter wonderland design on the right hand

When it comes to the design that I make on each hand, I usually like the way the design turns out on my left hand, due to me being right handed. Every so often I still like to show all of you my designs that I have done on my right hand as well, even if it is the same as the left.

As always hope everyone enjoyed this winter nail design, and try to stay warm in the cold weather, unless you are lucky enough to live an area that is always warm.

Next week will be as you may have guessed a Christmas/ Holiday nail design.

See you next week for this bright and colorful Holiday nail design tutorial!
